Doesn't surprise me. Some of the 'refurbishments' would be better defined as a 'tidy-up'. The only noticeable difference is an Arriva logo on the outside which doesn't really cut it to be honest.

156452 ran from Allerton to Wolverton on Monday 29/1, more than a little unusual. Anyone know if this is for an out of course repair or is another works getting involved in the refurbs?

156469 is repainted as well.

All of Northern's 156's done so far are owned by Angel
156 452 is owned by Porterbrook, are they using Wolverton for PRM work ???

156 420 at Wolverton for C6/PRM/Seats refurb been there since 22/10/17
156 452 at Wolverton for the same but only went up 29/1/18
156 475 at Springburn for PRM and CET Mods

It was reported a while back Northern did that to one 158 and management and Rail North were unimpressed with it. Is that the unit you're referring to or have more been done?

Theres definitely more than one refurbished NORTHERN 158 running around with its old but tarted up seats still in place and no sign of new ones of any sort.

Sure I've just seen 319442 at Picadilly with seemingly 1st style seating in one end of the train. Twas in platform 12 as I was legging it up the travellators to catch my train. Could be wrong as I was rushing, but I don't think I am.

I think we're talking about the same ones, yes. They certainly looked comfortable. Hideous, but comfortable.

There still is I believe a 142 under overhaul at Holbeck. I think this is currently pioneer unit 142 001.

There was a Wolverton to Allerton move on Friday 26th January, was this 156420 heading home then? Had assumed it was a 319 but not long after the previous swap and an unusual day for these as well.

It's gone rather quiet on the ex Scotrail 158 situation. They've been at NL for a few weeks now. Anybody seen them in service yet? I believe they are 870/1. Thanks in advance.

Not in service yet believe one will be going up to Barrow for crew training and other is having the post transfer exams done

Me too, I originally was not a fan but it is definitely not as bad as I originally thought. Be interesting to see how well it holds up to dirt/wear and Northern's traditionally erratic cleaning regime though...

The work on 142s at Holbeck has been ongoing for a few years now, it’s just corrosion repairs to the floors, they then go back to Newton Heath, crewed by Freightliner Drivers.
