All Virgin Trains services that call at Lichfield Trent Valley also call at Tamworth due to neither station having platforms on the fast lines so if a train calls at one it has to be routed via the slow lines so may as well stop at both. All except this:

SuO 1A59 1618 Liverpool Lime Street to London Euston

This train does not call at Tamworth but does call at LTV. Does anyone know why? Is it just a random quirk or does this train use a crossover (if one exists) to get back on the fast line before it reaches Tamworth?

Does it run close to anything at Rugby or does something start catching it up at Milton Keynes? 3 extra minutes at either of those two places could cause some issues.

A quick look on RTT Shows that 1A60 the 1635 Manchester to London service is 5 minutes behind from Rugby.

The first cross over after Lichfield is Amington Junction which is situated just to the South of Tamworth station.
