Freda Payne - Band of Gold.

Number One in what may be the best ever week for classic songs in the top 40 in September 1970 - I reckon 14 absolute classics in the top 40 even if you don't recognise the name/artist, you know the song

1. Band of Gold - Freda Payne
2. Tears of a Clown - Smokey Robinson and the Miracles
3. Give Me Just A Little More Time - Chairman of the Board
4. You Can Get It If You Really Want - Desmond Dekker
5. The Wonder of You - Elvis Presley
6. Mama Told Me (Not To Come) - Three Dog Night
9. Black Night - Deep Purple
12. Wild World - Jimmy Clift
15. (They Long To Be) Close to You - The Carpenters
16. Ain't No Mountain High Enough - Diana Ross
19. Paranoid - Black Sabbath
24. Jimmy Mack - Martha Reeves and the Vandellas
35. Lola - The Kinks
36. My Way - Frank Sinatra

I've discovered a radio station called non stop 90s on the tune in. Unfortunately they don't list the tracks and I need some help.indenifying a song if anyone is up.for it.
It sounds a bit Dario G sunchyme but it's not. Chorus is in another language. Wait for it

A wa wa wa we oh wah weh is the first line then I'm lost, then a bit of Indian Asian vibe in there too..sounds like a tribe singing.
It's driving me mental!!

Thanks Cowley but Life In A Northern Town contained the chanting sample that Dario.G took for Sunchyme which is similar to what I heard.
Great song though in its own right.

This was definetly a 90s song. I even emailed the station for that afternoons playlist , doubt I'll get a response!!

Indeed, and a Scania Metropolitan decker of Tyne and Wear PTE. Plus views of Durham and what may be Scotswood in Newcastle. Think there's a bit of Lancashire in there too, mixed in with the Rust Belt of America.

Bit ironic singing about Life in a Northern Town given that The Dream Academy are a bunch of awfully nice, rather posh, London folk :E

This week, I 'ave been mostly listening to....
