Just watched this. Miley Cyrus has risen to possibly the biggest star in the World right now, this is fantastic, she can really sing. The whole ensemble is fantastic too.

And it sounds like a 37 at the start too ;()

Beverley Knight - Greatest Day (very catchy tune that my 4 year old daughter did a dance to at her school nativity play)

Mahler Symphony no 6 played by the Minnesota Orchestra conducted by Osmo Vänskä. A great SACD of this explosive symphony.

I've been listening to the album this morning. It's good, thanks for the heads up.

Also:

The Bats - Fear of God (1991). Solid NZ Jangle.

Glad you enjoyed it - very underrated band, just about to start on tour. I'll give the Bats a go tomorrow.

I think the Bats are good. I like most of the bands that are grouped under the heading "Dunedin sound".

However, the following is definitely a recommendation:

Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever - Hope Downs (2017).

I've spent time today exploring some 80s American college rock bands.

Dumptruck - For the Country (1987)
Salem 66 - Frequency and Urgency (1987)
Blake Babies - Earwig (1988).

Earwig was the pick of the bunch, a brisk mix of post-punk and jangle. Actually, there was also a good cover of Loose by The Stooges, which I guess can be termed proto-punk.

Also got a chance to explore the debut solo albums from each of Mark Eitzel and David Bazan, both being stalwarts of the Slowcore genre.

Last night/this morning exploring some albums made by Slowcore band leaders who went on to create solo albums:

Mark Eitzel - 60 Water Silver Lining (1996)
David Bazan - Curse Your Branches (2009)
Sun Kil Moon (i.e., Mark Kozelek from Red House Painters) - Tiny Cities (2005).

All good. The Eitzel album possibly the most interesting as it is more jazz/folk influenced compared to his American Music Club era material.

Almost 60 years between these recordings.

Dion - "The Wanderer"

Dion with Jeff Beck - "Can't Start Over Again"
