Not sure to which "movements" you are referring, but I guess it's the loco hauled sets DB Schenker are providing for contingencies. There are six sets based at Wembley, 2 of which have been going to Euston, 2 to Kings Cross, 1 to St Pancras and one to Paddngton every night since the opening cermony. So far they have not been required to operate passnger services as the TOCs own additional trains have coped with the numbers, so they have returned to Wembley. The only change to this was on Wednesday when 2 of the sets were sent to Cardiff as it was thought they woud be needed to supplement the 4 additional HSTs FGW ran to Paddington after the Uruguay match, but in the end they were not needed. One made it to Cardiff, the other was turned back at Bristol Parkway. I was on the 2115 Padd to Swansea HST that night, and we were replatformed at Swindon to allow the first ECS a clear road through to Cardiff.

2V97 2234 Westbury (Wiltshre) - Bristol TM, arr. 2323

3C38 2052 Landore (Swansea) TMD - London Paddington, arr. 2359 (ECS)

3O67 0539 Bristol TM - Cardiff Central, arr. 0702
Arrives Cardiff Central 0636 but reverses at Cardiff West before working 2O67.

Note, re. 2Z97 & 5Z97: It seems that 5Z97 arrives at Westbury as the HST-hauled 1C90 as both use the same platform. The source for the above information says timings for 5Z97 are based on an HST. If these are liable to be working up to the end of the Olympics I may try and photo the working somewhere: when was the last time, if ever, that a First GW HST train left Weymouth?

Those are all the passenger trains I have but I have missed off a few 5xxxx workings related to the above trains.

HSTs have been to Weymouth before, but note the olympic working only runs if required.

Dave

A couple of years ago I believe, including stopping at Avoncliff! It also happened when the Eastleigh 100 was in (2009? or whenever that was), so has been at least twice, and I'm pretty sure it has happened a few other times too

Seem to be a few extras tonight from Manchester P to Euston after the Brazil vs S Korea game.

Trains were due to be 22.15, 22.40, 22.55 and 23.30. We were travelling to Macclesfield where according to National Rail they would all stop. When we got back to Piccadilly just after 22.00 the first Virgin train to Macclesfield was showing as 22.40 and the 22.15 was first stop Milton Keynes. There was also one at around 22.11 and that might have been first stop Euston - this hadn't shown in the afternoon on National Rail.

Luckily got the XC at 22.07 which wasn't too busy.

Anyone know what ran in the end?

The HST to Weymouth, does anyone know of any days it's planned for it to run? Or just left as standby and done as a on the day thing?

The latter. So far it's only run on the first Monday (30th) and on Sunday 5th following Ben Ainsley's success.

All the trains you quoted ran, calling at Macclesfield Stoke and Milton Keynes. There was also a 2212 non stop to Euston. The 2212, 2215 and 2255 were 11 car pendos, the 2240 was a 9 car pendo and the 2330 was the Pretendolino.

Cheers D1009 - the platform boards at Piccadilly were showing the 22:15 as first stop Milton Keynes and thats what the staff said but heyho! Got back quicker in the end anyway as we were at Piccadilly earlier than expected.

Any idea how busy they were?
