Earlier today a delay of about 12 minutes cost me the car parking price difference for up to 12 hours and that for up to 24 hours. Can I claim?

I base my question on being previously told something to the effect of: If your train is scheduled to reach a destination at a time an onward connection by public transport is required and available but delayed to a time beyond this you can claim for a taxi. This I heard ‘second hand’ and you may correct me on this too if you know different.

You've no legal entitlement to anything but you can always write to the train operating company and see if they will make a one off gesture of goodwill. It might help if this was in a station car park.
