What route will the 50s be taking south of Derby (in other words can I see them aswell)?

The 50s will be going from Derby to Chesterfield then off to York. You will not be able to get them at Loughborough. The best place is Chesterfield as you are able to get all three charters there.

A heads up 47832 will be working the Pullman.

47832 will definitely be working the Blue Pullman tomorrow with 47712. 47709 currently at Derby with a TPWS fault.

It was a few minutes early through Loughborough passing at around 10:49. This meant it caught 66703 on a Network Rail Ballast working from Mountsorrel, which crossed to the slow lines at Loughborough North Junction. The signal south of Loughborough (LR507) must have been red as it approached, clearing to single yellow as the ballast cleared the station, then going to green as the signaller set the route through the junction, just before it got to the signal. At this point the driver must really have opened 712 up and it gave out a massive amount of Clag (far more impressive than the pathetic display from UoSA about 20mins before). Sadly it had cleared by the time it reach me at Loughborough station (anyone still at the foot crossing south of the station would have got a good show). Had it been a little bit earlier, it would have passed LR507 still showing a single yellow, and due to the bridge he'd have been almost at the station before he would have seen the signal was green and opened up. Also, my video camera decided to play up, but luckely I had the digital camera on standby so managed a rushed shot of it, and 832 on the back, that AFAIK was shut down. Oviously, lacking the remote control system it can't work proper top and tail.
Regarding Union of South Africa, it was about 20mins late, and due to missing it's path was routed on the slow lines so as not to delay the following Meridien, which annoyingly meant it used platform 3 which is not good for photographs. Got a video from the bridge of it pulling away, not that it was that exciting (I really can't see what kettle fans get so exited about, I've seen units that have been more thrilling when pulling away, although had it been at speed it would I'm sure have been more interesting). Did give a chance to see the highly trained and totally fearless door supervisors on the Mk1 stock though, aswell as the brave people who risk life and limb to travel in the Mk1 support coach behind the loco (it's far to dangerous for members of the public afterall).

I admit that steam engines are not the most exciting whilst pulling away but at speed they are fantastic. Videos unfortunately will never be able to capture what it's really like.

47832 apparently detached and went off to Derby, 47709 returned from its rest and will work the Pullman back.

That’s right, they were about to reattach 47709 which has been in Derby with a TPWS fault but it had a break problem and was sent back into the depot. The remaining Plue Bullman reversed out of barrow hill. I was up close to the shunting in Barrow Hill and photos can be found here:

Apparently 47834 joined it again at Derby on the return.

On 30th March, 47712 & 47832 were doing 5Z22 East Ham - Newbury Racecourse with the Blue Pullman stock. So you definitely did not see the Blue Pullman as it has only ever run with 47709, 47712 or 47832. So what you saw must have been something totally different.
