Good evening everyone,

We are a newly formed society with the intentions of preserving at least one pacer train, out first meeting is on Saturday 15th June 2019 at 1400 hours at the Boundary Inn Audenshaw it's a two minute walk from Guide Bridge Station.

At this meeting we will be electing the society committee and discussing a possible merger with the Peak pacer preservation society which will then need a further meeting to ratify.

The group website is www.pacerrailgroup.com and queries can be directed to [email protected]

Many thanks

Isn't the one going to the NRM already one too many?

But seriously, good luck with it all.

Excellent !

Good luck with it, the more in preservation the better.

I did read the other night on the wnxx forum that someone had 'got' a GWR 143 and it was going to the Swindon & Cricklade in December.

It'd be nice to see a reasonable number (read as: the better examples) of Pacers preserved, including the ten rare three coach class 144's (014 - 023) which operate on routes out of Leeds and sometimes around Sheffield.

All the knackered examples can be stripped for spares.

In all seriousness, good luck! Pacers have done a great service to the National Network over the last 35 years.

I have had many a beautiful journey, with great views looking out of the windows and a bouncy ride :D

How do you plan on preserving one?

Best of luck.

The 3 carriage 144's are the best of the bunch and worth saving (one).

What is the point in creating a new society and then immediately discussing merging with another group?
Why not all join the existing group as individuals?
Seems a strange thing to do unless you intend some kind of takeover coup...

Are you going to be releasing a share offer? If so how much?
Are young to try and get one of each, ie, origanal build 142, follow on order 142, 143, 2 car 144, and 3 car 144?
I definitely think one of each should be preserved, as they did the job they were designed and built to do. It would be ace to get one each of the as delivered liveries.

would be just as easy creating a kickstarter or GoFundMe page.

Indeed. And with time for fundraising to acquire one short (given planned withdrawal dates), indulging in internal politics is going to be utterly counterproductive.

Future generations should be spared the horrors of the Pacer.

Future generations should be reminded of the status of funding for railways in the early 1980s and how the survival of many routes was only thanks to Pacers.

Aren’t there some Government laboratories around the world that keep examples of deadly diseases under the tightest security imaginable, far from the public gaze, in order to act as a warning to future generations?

Perhaps you could contact one of them to see if they have any spare storage space?!
