Thanks DaveSims, Newport I believe.
That would make more sense than hauling it all the way to South Wales - cheers!142071 did go to Sims but it was one of the Hull yards.
Anyone know what pacer this was and where it is off to?
Pacer train causes disruption by breaking down on A189
I believe the one there still is privately owned.Whilst passin Gascoigne wood the other day I say a 142 poking its head out behind the lines of stored 321's any idea which on pe it plans are in store for it. I did hear Northern week to keep a unit or two for route learning is this true or is this unit just waiting its turn for these scrappers

i believe all 143s are either in preservation or scrapped now and indeed were quite soon after withdrawalHas anyone got an updated list on the status's of the 142's, 143's & 144's which are still in storage or have now been sent for scrap.
Three stored in Bristol, I think.i believe all 143s are either in preservation or scrapped now and indeed were quite soon after withdrawal
that one's 003. But 007 will be going into the same liveryJust seen on social media, a distant view of the 142 at Eastleigh (007 possibly?). Sadly it's beyond my capabilities to link to it but it's currently being repainted into GMPTE orange and brown livery.
Here's 142003 at Eastleigh yesterday.that one's 003. But 007 will be going into the same livery
142089 was moved away, and while stripped, remained so today. However there is one half of a 142 in the scrapping area, the other half having been consumed, and this appears to be 142032.Been reported in this month’s issue of The Railway Magazine that 142032 and 142089 are now in the scrap line at Eastleigh Works
Sadly, 144015 is the first one to be chopped up!Just seen a photo on facebook of car 55815 of 144015 awaiting the mincer at Sims, Newport. Believe this is the first class 144 to be destroyed?
is that the complete unit?Sadly, 144015 is the first one to be chopped up!
I would assume sois that the complete unit?
Sorry to be picky, but I never assume anything (!)I would assume so
could be the university in question have already used it for its purpose?Sorry to be picky, but I never assume anything (!)
Enough other Pacers (and other units) have been split up because buyers only wanted one or two carriages.
The last note I saw was that 144015 and 144021 were earmarked for the University of Birmingham (though stored at Worksop)
Perhaps the UoB are no longer wanting them or whatever purpose they were for fell throughSorry to be picky, but I never assume anything (!)

Best place for it.That's a sad sight! Grabber waiting, probably already history.
Very sad. I think the 144s were drastically more pleasant to travel on that the refurbished “cram ‘em in” 150s that now run in their place.Credit to the original photographer. Just pulled this off Facebook. That's a sad sight! Grabber waiting, probably already history.
