As per my comments in post #28, they're more Stabled than Stored.

142 076 & 082 along with 143 605 are heading off from Landore to Canton tomorrow morning for exams. There will be further moves over the next 2 weeks for the rest of these units, in readiness for them being utilised when the timetable is changed on 5th July.

Are there any TfW Pacers left at Landore now? I imagine they've all been returned to Canton for the enhanced timetable that started on Monday!

The 2 'for spares' units 142 012 & 079 are here still.

Of the 143's: 602 & 622 are here and serviceable.

142 010 & 073 along with 143 604 & 623 are still here but in need of repair / new wheelsets etc so not likely to be in traffic anytime soon.

Also I wonder when will see a TFW Pacer saved I want to see either the 142 or 143 class of TFW saved oneday.

I hope either possibly 142002 or 006. 010. 069, 072, 073, 074, 075, 076, 077, 080, 081, 082, 083 or 085 as in either possibly one of these 142’s or either the 143’s 601 or 602, 604, 605, 606, 607, 608, 609, 610, 614, 616, 622, 623, 624 or 625 weather only one of these from Tfw when withdrawn I hope oneday one of these TFW’s I saved to a Heritage Railway in the near future although it needs to be in good mechanical condition first.

I also heard from fleet details or in table of withdrawals mentioning that Pacer 142056 might be getting preserved or saved at Eastleigh however I don’t know her owner yet it is unknown who owns it but does someone know this.

It said in the Wikipedia of br class 142

Contact suggests that 143618 is counting down engine hours at the moment it seems, constantly being thrown on low mileage Taunton and back ECS crew moves.

That seems rather far fetched considering GWR 143s have dispensation to run until the end of 2020.

It's merely a choice if you elect to believe me or not, but in July it only did 4 (?) Days of normal service trains....

Does anyone know whether the 144e will stay in service after 2020 or will it be withdrawn like everything else? It is PRM compliant after all.
It's compliant to a degree. I can't remember the specific details, but it still has several things that make it need a PRM dispensation.

It also wouldn't be wise to have a single unit of a particular type, as it would make things like maintenance and traction knowledge a logistical nightmare.

Therefore it is safe to say it will be withdrawn along with the rest of the 144s, when the time comes

That’s unfortunate. It seems that I’ll never be able to go on a Pacer.
There are examples that are or are planned to be preserved so you will be able to ride on one somewhere. It'll just take a bit of planning to see what is running and where. The list at the start of this thread shows the preserved Pacers and their locations.

Yep, well right now a trip to Exeter is pretty much impossible. It’d involve a 3 hour flight, HX to Paddington then an IET to Exeter. It doesn’t seem bad, but I wear glasses and having a face covering on makes them really fog up and 7-8 hours of that just doesn’t sound too good. When this pandemic is over I’ll definitely fly over for a Pacer ride.

I'll be updating the list soon to add any changes since it was last updated in late June, I've had so much on that I haven't had chance to.

All 144s are out of use currently, stored mostly at KWVR but with a handful elsewhere. Mostly are classed as being in "warm store" but before too long crew knowledge will lapse. A pint at the West Riding at Dewsbury station says we won't see another 144 carry passengers for Northern.
Not sure on the 142s, but some are still in use I believe.

Oh, I thought some of the 144s had been moved from KWVR for a return to service. Guess not haha. Thanks for the info :)
