I'm trying to find the cheapest fare for a friend of mine who needs to make a journey from London Paddington to Taunton on a Friday evening leaving around 5pm, returning on the following Monday afternoon. This is for a few weekends from now (can't remember which one). She has a Zones 1-5 travelcard season and a Y-P railcard. What I've come up with is: CDS Hayes & Harlington to Theale rte NOT LONDON: £7.60 SSR Theale to Taunton rte NOT READING: £26.40 CDS Theale to Hayes & Harlington rte NOT LONDON: £7.60 Total £41.60 The combination will only be valid on trains that take the Berks & Hants line and pass through Theale, but as far as I can see all the fastest ones do. These trains won't stop at either Hayes & Harlington or Theale, but that should be OK because Condition 19(c) allows this when the first part of the journey is covered by a season. It seems very (surprisingly!) cheap but I don't think I've missed anything: the CDS is a B1 restriction so no problems using it on the fast evening trains out of Paddington, and the SSR also has no evening peak restrictions as it starts west of Reading. Have I missed anything, or does this combination look good to go?
