Have the pocket-sized folded tube maps been discontinued?

Moderator note: there is also a thread regarding the National Rail publication produced London rail & tube services map, which is a separate publication:

Something I would like. If you don’t live in London, how would you get one? Can you send a SAE to TfL, or perhaps wait for them to appear on ebay?

It's really time to produce them in a larger format.

Are these available to pic up at a station in printed format though?
Yes, if you ask station staff they should offer you a copy. You can also order them from the TfL website and they will post to you for free.

Updated paper pocket maps containing the new colours and names for the Overground lines will begin to be distributed to stations over the next week or so.

Is this issue (dated September 2024?) only going to last a week? I presume there's still a December 2024 issue as usual?

I picked up one on my last visit to London because it was there. In reality its getting to the point where it isn't that useful. Too much data for the size.

Eaglescliffe station has a tube map showing the Crossrail core but not Barking Riverside as open; how frequently are the tube maps outside London (well, outside the southeast; I'd assume most at e.g. Luton or Didcot are updated quicker) changed?

Tube maps on non-TfL managed stations are the responsibility of the Train Operating Companies (or network rail if applicable) themselves, so will only be updated whenever the TOC gets around to doing so.

Stations that are managed by third-parties yet served by TfL trains (such as Reading or Watford Junction) will have direct input from TfL in regards to updating signage and publicity such as maps. As you mentioned, stations within the South East such as Didcot or Luton that aren't managed or served by TfL services will still get more regular updates as TOCs see it as important to update their information more frequently due to the nature of journeys made from said stations.

Places like Eaglescliffe and other stations far from London and The South East are probably seen as less of a priority to update by their respective TOCs.

This copy has now been withdrawn by TfL in an instruction to staff to collect and await return, because of the error.
New copies are in the course of preparation.

Someone should have checked the key more carefully though. All the new Overground names appear in alphabetical order but only five of them have the word 'line' on the end, Mildmay is inexplicably bereft. It was correct on the February version but inexplicably the word 'line' has vanished in the printed version, which is a bit embarrassing given that hundreds of thousands of people are going to pick these up.

The online tube map is updated more frequently, for example, the online map as of now has a date of July 2024:

Online maps are now live. Link above now points to a September 2024 version.

The London's Rail & Tube map has also been updated.
Interesting that the Croydon Tramlink is now a double-bar green, like the Overground. Previous Rail & Tube maps had it in a solid green. So I presume the Tramlink now has a green background to avoid confusion with Goblin/Suffragette.

Elizabeth line is also now a double-bar instead of a solid purple.

That could well be the rationale, though it does also make it slightly clearer that Tramlink sits in it's own 'London Trams fare zone', which is basically a fancy way of saying that it charges the same fare as London buses (the one difference being that a Travelcard is valid only if it covers any of zones 3-6).

Whilst updating the Overground, they forgot to check if Southern still ran to Hemel Hempstead. Thameslink to Orpington should probably be shown as a limited service, as there's currently no services between 10:00 and 15:00 or on weekends apart from two trains to Victoria on Sundays.

This was revealed in the Geoff Marshall video with Jon Hunter months ago. Design parity with the TfL Maps.

Thanks for the notice. I spent some time hunting down the maps today. There's at least 2 versions - one has a Santander Cycles advert on the back, another has TfL Go on the back. Both versions have the Mildmay "Line" error.

After looking at the map, I don't think it's worth it withdrawing the map and throwing away thousands of pounds. The lack of "line" is very minor problem in the overall picture.

If TfL stops looking at this from a narrow-minded view (this map was made because of the Overground renaming), and looks at the wider picture (i.e., the entire map legend), a non-train enthusiast would ask - why do Central, Bakerloo, etc. not have "line", but Elizabeth, Weaver, etc. have "line". The lack of "line" for Mildmay would just be a small part in this wider question.
