Are they valid between Slough and West Drayton if there's no events at Eton Dorney that day?

Your Games Travelcard is only valid to Slough and Windsor/Eton Riverside in conjunction with a ticket for an event at Eton Dorney. If there are no events at Eton Dorney on the day you are travelling, I'd assume you won't be able to produce an accompanying ticket and therefore the ticket would not be valid.
