Penistone line engineering

    Does anyone know the nature of the engineering work on the penistone line for the next 2 weeks it's closed from 21:15 until 05:00am mon-thurs until next thurs.

    removing some of the many jointed track sections i imagine. Or just tamping them.

    So over 4 miles of track to be replaced hopefully help some of the many speed restrictions

    Removing Pacers from lines provides a smoother ride as well.

    I think this line will be one of the last for pacers to dissapear off. I happen to quite like a rid on a 142 along this line :)

    I was kind of hoping that the Woodhead route was re-opening.. oh well

    Anybody got any info as to were exactly on the line the renewal is taking place?

    Travelled today it appears Dodworth to Silkstone is being done right now

    A 142 experiences a very gallopy ride between Silkstone Common and Dodworth - the regulars don't bat an eyelid.

    I thought it was to allow Network Rail to erect lion proof fencing in the Shepley area.

    Have the bits from Barnsley stn jcn to Summer lane and Dodworth to Summer lane been done, possibly last year or so?

    Something has gone badly wrong today. They claim over running engineering work looks like trains cancelled and replaced by busses all day must be a massive over run.
