Hi all

I've been looking at this for a while now and plan to try to use this ticket for a (brief) trip to Skegness. I'm quite confused about which routes are permitted though because there seem to be rather a lot of them.

The one that stands out to me is down the main line from Doncaster to Grantham and then on a direct service to Skegness. But the way I keep getting suggested is Doncaster - Lincoln - Sleaford - Skegness... or Doncaster - Retford - Lincoln -Sleaford - Skegness. What about via Barnetby and Market Rasen down to Lincoln?

I would greatly appreciate advice on a more exhaustive list of permitted routes :D Thank you.

For the wider context, I'd have to start in Leeds and am trying to fill in some gaps around the East Midlands/Lincolnshire area. Sheffiled - Lincoln and Nottingham - Lincoln I have done, so not too bothered about those lines... unless Retford station is anything to write home about?

Not surprised you're confused - NRE will only show you OffPeak returns via Lincoln but click on "other trains you can use" and it brings up via Grantham - and click on the restriction code and it's 3V "East Coast route north of Stevenage." So as you don't have to reserve, via GRA is OK as you might expect.

Barnetby, though, I very much doubt!

No doubt one of the experts here will comment (?)

Adwick RPs:

Doncaster
Pontefract Group
Swinton S Yorks
Wakefield Group

Skegness:
Sleaford

Adwick - Skegness single fares are higher than Adwick - Sleaford, so Sleaford is the valid destination routeing point.

Doncaster-Skegness is £26 SOS vs £33 for Adwick-Skegness, so Doncaster is valid routeing point.

Wakefield or Pontefract is £52 SOS, so they aren't valid

Swinton - Skegness is £32 SOS, so it's valid.

So you've got Skegness-Sleaford first, then mapped routes Sleaford - Swinton or Sleaford-Doncaster.

Then the shortest route from Swinton to Adwick, which is via Doncaster, so you will be required to stop short of Swinton at Doncaster if travelling on a mapped route via Doncaster

These are:

Swinton:
DL+PR+YL JL JL+SH SH+JL
JL: Sleaford - Lincoln - Doncaster - Adwick
JL + SH Sleaford - Lincoln - Retford - Sheffield - Doncaster - Adwick
Sleaford - Lincoln - Barnetby - Doncaster - Adwick
Sleaford - Lincoln - Retford - Sheffield - Barnsley - Wakefield Kirkgate - Wakefield Westgate - Adwick
DL+PR+YL
Sleaford - Nottingham (-optionally also via Derby and possibly also East Midlands Parkway) - Sheffield - Doncaster - Adwick

Routes to Doncaster:
Sleaford - Lincoln - Doncaster - Adwick only (this is also the shortest route)
