Peterborough to Leicester Line Bridge Bash.

Good news. Meanwhile had cause to use the replacement coach service last night from Leicester to Peterborough (made a change from Newbury Park to Ingatestone). Very well organised, comfortable coach with an excellent driver. Journey scheduled for 70 minutes took 67 minutes, spot on time.

It is impressive that the old bent bridge has been removed and a new bridge sourced and installed in such a short space of time. Well done to all involved.

Didn't they erect steel goalposts after the last incident?
Looking at the earlier photos I think the beam hit by the lorry in the previous incident was "sacrificial", but it hit so hard that the main beam behind it supporting the rails was also damaged. The only photo I can find of the new deck in situ (linked below) isn't clear enough to tell if a new sacrificial beam has also been installed, but it may be that the new deck is sturdy enough not to need one.
