As I said, the more likely result would be a spilt of the current service at Nottingham. There is probably no need to terminate it at Manchester providing some of the Northern services through the corridor were rationalised.

There is a long running thread Liverpool Norwich service to be split at Nottingham. That split is about franchise remapping, not Manchester congestion, and so is OT for this thread. Conceivably the service could be split at both Manchester and Nottingham.
