Hi

I've booked two single advance tickets next month, one Donny-Stockport then another Man Airport-Donny via TPE's website. I'm pretty sure I had to choose where to pick them up, so the first one up at DON then the next at MIA, but the confirmation email says:

Tickets will be available to collect from a self-service ticket machine at one of 900 UK stations 2 hours after booking.
When you go to collect your tickets you will need:
Your collection reference: XXXXXXXXX
The payment card you used to purchase the ticket: Card number ending XXXX
This seems a bit ambiguous.

Does 'one of 900 UK stations' mean the ones I specified, or 'any' of the 900. If it's the former, I just wonder why it's impossible to pick them up at any station with appropriate machines, given today's technology.

EDIT: Just reread the email thoroughly and it doesn't say anywhere that I have to pick the tickets up at a particular station.

It means Any one of 900 UK stations.....

You should be able to collect from more or less any station that has a ticket office or TVM.

Thanks for the very quick reply. I'll have a run into Donny Station tomorrow and try it out (sat having a beer now!)

Am I going stupid, but I'm sure you had to specify where you were going to pick the ticket up; and if you chose a station that wasn't your departure or arrival point it gave you a warning along the lines of 'Do you realise...' etc

The reason they give you a list of where you can pick tickets up is so you don't select a station where there isn't the available facilities.

The buying process does ask you where you want to pick the tickets up. I would guess this is so that the site can warn you about time restrictions for collecting tickets from chosen station. You have to remember that tickets can be collected from stations with a part time booking office and no TVM. So if you are travelling from a station at 20:00, but the ticket office shuts at 13:00 and no TVM, then it can advise you of such.

This has been discussed many times before now. If I wanted to, I can specify to pick something up in Inverness and pick it up in Cardiff if I wanted. It doesn't matter. As a matter of rule however, I specify the origin station or my home station. Usually picking them up at a random location somewhere on the isle.

You select one to ensure that the facilities for collection are available where you want to collect them.
