In one of the Covid-related threads (https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/cambrian-stations-temporarily-closing.205644/), someone posted that a load of TfW-run stations had to close (temporarily) for social distancing reasons (i.e. short platforms so the guard can't keep clear of passengers). On that list were Prees and Yorton stations.

I note that neither of these stations now appear on TfW's closed station information, nor on National Rail. Did they actually close in the end? If so, when did they reopen?

They swapped the booked traction out.

It became a 175 which door can be operated from the back cab.

At least that's what happened when I was down there last.

According to the Transport for Wales website
A reduced service will also be in operation at Yorton and Prees stations as Manchester/Cardiff services will not be stopping at these stations due to the short platform length. These stations will be serviced by the local Shrewsbury – Crewe shuttles only .

At present, all Crewe - Shrewsbury local services are calling at Prees and Yorton as normal. Under the current reduced timetable that service is booked for a 2 car 175 but any 1 or 2 car unit can stop at these stations and still comply with TfW policy around social distancing.

All services which are normally booked to stop at these stations as part of longer journeys outside of the times the local service runs (early in the morning and in the evening) are currently not doing so - as some of these services are booked for 3 car units, and as TfW units are not fitted with SDO they require local door only operation - which does not comply with TfW policy on social distancing.

Seems that a couple of the evening services are stopping now....

1D68 Cardiff - Chester (via Crewe)
1J80 Birmingham New Street - Crewe (via Shrewsbury)

Nothing in the Southbound direction though.
