Well, I've been a bit ill this last few days (story of my life for the last 6 months actually) and haven't had time to get everything done that I had planned. I'm waiting currently on my payment processor to authorise my account for live transactions too.

Nevertheless, the mileage engine will return tomorrow at some point. There may well be pieces of missing data (highly likely, in fact, such as London Underground & Metro routes as that data is getting recompiled in kms) ... but it'll be available.

Sorry you have been feeling ill.

Great news that it will be back again tomorrow though!

No subscriptions for a few days I'm afraid. Still a couple of things to sort out.

Hope you're feeling better Tom and thanks for all your hard work on this. It really does make things a lot easier for us simple mortals ;)

It's always amused me that I ended up creating 2 websites that some of the rail community seemingly rely on :p

I wonder what would happen if I suddenly disappeared. Maybe I should make some arrangements in case that happens...

You'll be even more amused when you sell RTT for some ridiculous sum in the future

Great news! I can't seem to get the mileage for the NET yet though.

Too much work, too little time. Anyhoo, mileage engine back up.

Good to hear.

OOI, have the mileage figures been recalibrated as some journeys are returning different measurements compared to the numbers before?

There's a different underlying logic to how it calculates mileages and loads up the mileage database which is prone to more errors than before - but it does highlight issues more quickly so there are benefits and disadvantages to it.

All I can say is any discrepancies you notice please report to [email protected] and then one of the support team will deal with it.

Will do so when I have drawn up a list but off the top of my head from what I was looking at this morning, Sheffield - Man Pic returns shortest distance via Stockport where shortest distance should be via Reddish North and mileage figures are different in opposite directions, despite both being via Stockport. There is also an issue with Southport to Leeds where towards Leeds the shortest route is via Piccadilly whereas in the opposite direction shortest route was shown as via Victoria. Mileages seem to be different between Victoria and Southport depending on the direction of travel despite both giving the same route.

That sounds like the kind of errors I was seeing when I was testing it but I didn't have time to check the entire network. It's due to a couple of different reasons but mostly how it creates the internal network map representation when it imports from database.

The mileage engine gets updated once per day at 1am with any updates made to the 'global' swlines mileage database - which will get pushed RailMiles 4/5, Mileage Engine and the new version of RTT.

Birmingham to Watford routed via Weedon when I added a journey via the app. Or are these issues just with the non-subscriber RMME?

I don't mean to speak for Tom here, but the thing with software - especially software that's created as a part time project - is that it's "done when it's done". I wouldn't expect enterprise level support from a "mom and pop" operation, and I wouldn't want a poor quality product rushed out to market :)

For the delay, you can blame a combination of illness and Grand Theft Auto Online.

I fully understand that but with the quote "No new subscription for a few days, I'm affraid" was posted on 30th April I do not think it is wrong to ask 39 days later for an update.

When I have absolutely no inclination nor any motivation to do any work, GTA is a good way of passing the time as it's rather brain numbing :p

So... is there a rough date for subscriptions opening back up?

One question from me - is there any plan to reintroduce the CRS codes as a search item?

Overall though it looks better than the old iteration - looking forward to via points being re-introduced. Who knows, I may end up convinced to subscribe ;)

Does the late arrival of the engine open an entitlement to Delay Repay? ;) (sorry, had to get that in there before someone else...I'll get my coat! :D)
