Will December 5th definitely be the last day? They are still an Azuma short or will they just short form a couple of services to make up the missing set next week?

LNER have been quite clear the last day is the 15th. In an emergency that could change but i doubt it will.

As things currently stand, yes this Sunday is the last day.
All things must come to an end but it will be strange to see them gone. Normally see 1 in Kings Cross on the way home. I do remember them getting introduced and frustrated when I always seemed to get a deltic in the beginning. Let’s hope the Azuma is a match for them once all the bugs are ironed out.

I remember when the HSTs stopped running to Paddington I found it odd not to hear the rumble of the engines on the concourse at the station. I wonder if it'll be similar at King's Cross.

Sunday coming won’t potentially be the last HST at Kings Cross though - the Hull Trains HST is likely to be around until the end of the year, it’s out today for example.

it is already odd not seeing HST & 91's at Kings Cross. It is a unit station now :(

I still feel melancholic at Paddington when I see a line of 800s stretching down all the platforms, not long ago it would have been all HSTs. It's like a part of my childhood was just gone. I hope a new generation can come to appreciate 800s in the same way I appreciate HSTs, or the way you appreciate Deltics (judging by your profile picture, sorry if I'm making assumptions).

Don't get me wrong, I think the HSTs are wonderful trains to travel on, but the air quality is so much better at Paddington since it went to almost 100% electric traction. Not such an issue at Kings Cross, but I was there earlier this year and the EMT liveried HST was singlehandedly polluting the station.

Can't argue with that, but I still miss the HSTs there simply for nostalgia.

The diesel haze used to be quite a part of the atmosphere at Paddington!

Thanks for that. I won't be able to get there to see it though!! Is it not coming through on any other day, maybe Friday?
It starts in Scotland and gradually makes it's way south, so alas no. Unless something untoward happens of course!

Waiting for the 1504 Doncaster-York (1306 ex London) to say my final goodbye to these machines on the ECML.

A very strange feeling considering the miles I've accrued having these machines on my doorstep.

1E05 0730 Edinburgh - London Kings Cross
1N85 1306 London Kings Cross - York
1Y88 1602 York - London Kings Cross
1D32 1930 London Kings Cross - Leeds via Lincoln

1E15 0952 Aberdeen - London Kings Cross
1D28 1833 London Kings Cross - Harrogate

1W03 0708 Leeds - Aberdeen

All diagrams (except fourth diagram down) showing as HSTs on LNER website so should all now be confirmed. 1W03 is showing as Azuma with 1E25 and 1N32 being unknown. As far as I am aware, 1W08 has been HST vice Azuma all week if I am correct?

It’s 1W03 (rather than 1W08), and it’s definitely planned to be HST Saturday, subject to change etc etc
