How can I find the restriction code for a particular ticket/journey (or otherwise find the applicable restrictions?

More specifically, what restrictions apply to a saver return from Banbury to Longbridge? Does it matter whether I travel with Chiltern or Crosscountry? And (if anyone knows yet) how will this change under the forthcoming fares changes (if this ticket is priced by Crosscountry - is it)?

Many thanks for any help,
Richard.

Good job it's not priced by XC!

Oxford to Brum passengers should split at Banbury. This also gives FGW and Chiltern more money as well as avoiding XC's draconian complicated "simple" rules. Boycotting XC priced Savers is a great way of saving money.

XC's draconian measures will not affect you next month, but you may find the person sat next to you to have been well and truly chinged by them if they got on at Oxford and didn't split tickets.

Same for Sheffield to Birmingham, split at Derby.

Who prices Derby-Brum?
XC. They don't price any short-hop journeys north of Derby, but do price a range of journeys of medium or longer distances.

In general, north of Derby, anything that is mostly on the MML is priced by EMT (that even includes Burton-York), anything that is mostly on the ECML is priced by NXEC. The short hops are NXEC, NT or EMT. TPE have flows like Darlington-Leeds just to confuse things. Then XC have flows like Darlington-Derby as Darlington is considered too far north for MML to price it, and Derby too far off the ECML for NXEC to price it.

Of course, this creates all sorts of anomalies. NXEC and NT don't have restrictions on Savers (NXEC restrictions only apply to Stevenage and any point south of Stevenage). TPE restrict by arrival into places like Leeds, Manchester. XC are now restricting by a departure time of 0930.

Passengers should seek out advice on restrictions to ensure they are not being ripped off by XC.
