These cleaners don't deal with that. Fatalities get specialist cleaners who are usually external contractors who specially deal with things like crime scenes and fatalities.


Anything still on/under the train once it gets back to the depot is for the staff there to find, at least where I am. Surprising what makes it back sometimes.

I’m a union member and if the RMT balloted my TOC for strike action relating to pay in the next 6 months at least, I’d vote no. I’m glad to have a very well paid job that I love doing and now isn’t the time for this sort of thing.

There are dedicated under frame cleaners employed by Scotrail in depots. They wash the undersides for routine maintenance as well as following fatalities. The only thing the regular cleaners do on the outside of a vehicle is graffiti removal.
