Exactly! It's not going to look good if above inflation offers are made when the government are under pressure for removing the pensioners winter fuel payments.

So no progress until November? Really? It's not going to look good if above inflation offers are made when the government are under pressure for removing the pensioners winter fuel payments.
Wouldn't bother wasting your breath, it's either they stump up and offer the money or the industrial action ballots go out again. So no progress until November? Really?
Also the offer for 2023 - 4.75% is less than half of what inflation was in April that year. In fact, the 2023 and 2024 pay offers put together are still less than what inflation was for that year alone.

Why are ASLEF members being sent ballots if they do not have a formal offer? The same as the ASLEF offer then.
Why are ASLEF members being sent ballots if they do not have a formal offer?
ASLEF does have a formal offer and members were sent a copy of the DfT headed letter it was given on.
No.Did the network Rail pay talks happen this week?
In fairness, given developments during the previous dispute that clearly isn’t the case - the RMT had their initial deal a long while ago while Aslef are only just catching up.Because they are better then rest of railway family. We will wait until December they have time for rest of us.
Could you do better? They take make millions a month off the paying RMT members and all we ever get is an email and text, talking about the next meeting they’ve arranged for the following month.
There's far more to the RMT than these pay talks! They are not a union simply for railway staffThey take make millions a month off the paying RMT members and all we ever get is an email and text, talking about the next meeting they’ve arranged for the following month.

Maybe this frustration should be aimed towards the RMT.They take make millions a month off the paying RMT members and all we ever get is an email and text, talking about the next meeting they’ve arranged for the following month.
Really? Never knew that, silly me. Frontline staff are once again being shafted because the RMT are too busy giving labour hugs and kisses. As pointed out above, if the conservatives were in there would have been talks of strikes all over the news. Into month 10 with nothing concrete, which also holds back the NWR bonus that was due to be paid in Augusts pay I believe. There's far more to the RMT than these pay talks! Could I send an email or text saying ‘sorry no talks went ahead this week due to blah blah blah’Could you do better?
Correct - bonus won’t be paid until the pay deals are concluded for all bands.Into month 10 with nothing concrete, which also holds back the NWR bonus that was due to be paid in Augusts pay I believe.
The cabinet have only just resumed from their summer recess. There was a new government installed not that long prior, anything before then can't be used as ammunition. Both sides have talked about resetting industrial relations. There is a simply a delay.Really? Never knew that, silly me. I think so yeah… not asking for miracles I’m asking for an update on the update from the last pointless update.
The RMT pull their affiliation from Labour some years back.Frontline staff are once again being shafted because the RMT are too busy giving labour hugs and kisses.
In his defence, even the reps don't have a clue what the status is, because it's not been passed down the line so to speak. I emailed the RMT helpline, they replied saying ask the area reps, I asked the area reps, and got an emoji of a bloke shrugging his shoulders.....The RMT pull their affiliation from Labour some years back.
Looking at your posts it seems a lot of stamping your feet like a petulant child 'I want I want I want' cos ASLEF got theirs
As someone said before - go back to your rep and ask them what's going on - that's their job and try and be little bit patient

I also believe that we have been patient. 9¹/² months for what.... Just how patient should people be?
I do however think it's about time that frustrations and annoyances were aimed at the RMT, who willingly takes people's subs every month.
Sadly I don't think there will be much movement now. Employees don't have fire in their belly anymore, and a growing number of new employees believe that their wages are good, because companies feel warm and fuzzy inside, and pay a decent wage out the goodness of their hearts....
Well if your reps don't have a clue then you will find nothing new from a forum will you? Its your reps who you should be pushing for answers on this - and why are you taking an emoji as an answer? Id be right round to see them and demand they start asking questions - that's what you pay your dues forIn his defence, even the reps don't have a clue what the status is, because it's not been passed down the line so to speak. Exactly. They're normally very forthcoming with info so why not now?I do however think it's about time that frustrations and annoyances were aimed at the RMT, who willingly takes people's subs every month
and most of that time period has had a government who didn't want to pay any one any extra money which is why you have been going out on strike to try and force their hand remember?I also believe that we have been patient. 9¹/² months for what.... Just how patient should people be? 2025 pay talks should be starting soon....
They don't want to be though, they want to align themselves more with the Corbyn movementLastly, regarding affiliations to Labour, maybe they want to be. The attitude of the Union, well it was totally different when those Nasty Tories were dragging their heals, they got some hard grief from the Union. And, are Labour even involved in the NR talks, and meetings, that it turns out, are not even happening.....
I simply aired my opinion, if you don’t like it that’s fine, I won’t lose sleep over it neither should you.The RMT pull their affiliation from Labour some years back.

It's 9 months into 2024, but it's only two months into a new government, half of that has been parliament recess.I simply aired my opinion, if you don’t like it that’s fine, I won’t lose sleep over it neither should you.
I’m happy for ASLEF members, where have I said any different? Typical keyboard warrior getting personal .
Be patient.. 9 months into 2024 pay talks with 3 months remaining.. yeah good one
I have outlined the other points above.I simply aired my opinion, if you don’t like it that’s fine, I won’t lose sleep over it neither should you.

And the negotiations must be going well, Mick Lynch wrote an article in the Guardian praising the new government's approach about a week ago.
The RMT pull their affiliation from Labour some years back.
I don't think he is - The ASLEF leader is on the NEC. I always thought you had to be an affiliated union to have a seat on the NEC - off the top of my head they are Unite, Unison, TSSA, Musicians ( cant forget the musicians!) , FBU, CWU, USDAW, GMB and ASLEF ( and some others that I cant recall!)Out of curiosity and not political points - but Mick Lynch is a member of the Labour N.E.C. as a result of his role as R.M.T. leader. What's the criteria - just union membership numbers not political affiliation?
