Hi guys

I recently applied for a frieght liner trainee position. Whilst I failed to make the freightliner standards I did pass the RSSB national standard. Can someone give me some more details about this. I am about to apply for another TOC and have to put in an cv. I am thinking it would be worth mentioning I passed this recently but the information I got back from freight liner was pretty basic so I would like to know a bit more about what I exactly passed before I start going on about it in my CV.

I would contact the OPC for the feedback. I passed the RSSB Standard a few yrs ago but not the Enhanced Standard for a particular TOC. I spoke with the OPC and they explained where my score had dropped - annoyingly it was only one test and missed out by a very small margin!
They will not reveal the actual standard that the TOC is looking for but at least you can find out where you need to sharpen up.

From my experience, on most TOCs, the application asks about train driver assessments taken previously. I would definitely make it very clear that you have passed national standards.

This means that TOCs which accept national standards won't need to assess you (if within 3 years) and TOCs which require enhanced standards could deduce that you have a better chance of passing than somebody without any results.

I recently applied for DB Cargo. I made it very clear on the application form that I had passed national standards, and additionally made it very clear on my cover letter.
I had another application in process with another TOC after passing the assessments - so I made sure I told them and received an acknowledgement!

I have heard (correct or incorrect) that if you have previously passed assessments, you'll automatically get through sifts for new jobs.

Almost certainly incorrect , probably a higher chance , but not definate at all . Before I passed the physcometrics to enhanced I made two sifts from 5 applications (40%) . I was turned down at interview , then got offered 3 interviews from 6 applications (50%) . Now a trainee driver due to pass out in just over a week.

I thought Freightliner were happy with a national standard pass not enhanced?

It’s a way to filter the numbers down by asking for enhanced pass marks as I’m sure thousands applied for those positions. But saying that not all companies require enhanced pass and accept standard pass

Definitely enhanced. But also they will honour previous results for the maximum 5-years, where (most?) only allow 3-years.
