Scotrail Trainee Drivers (Ongoing)

I done mine a few months ago & passed now awaiting start date after medical.

What I was told was to research scotrail etc as a company, so spend ages in doing this, but the interview was completely different, more just a normal interview with a couple of situational questions.

Just be yourself and you’ll be fine

Done all the assessments etc just waiting on my start date gladly.
Been a year to the day since I applied.

Hi , can anyone confirm how many weeks before start date that they received their contract etc?
I’ve a start date at the end of May and wanting to give my current employer as much notice as possible but unsure if I’m a priority at present as I know there are start dates before mine.

I had mine on Jan 13 and haven't heard anything officially. However I know a driver manager who said my name is on the waiting list for a start date.(I passed the assessments with another TOC) If you haven't received bad news, take it as good news until you do

I received my contract with 29 days notice... I had to give 28!

Hi, I had my DMI 5 weeks ago and have not heard back. To be honest u felt like I struggled in the interview, was so prepared for what I expected but the interview wasn’t like that so threw me off a lot.

Anyway, every the optimist, and seeking clarity, I emailed Matheus 3 weeks ago (once initial 2 week period was past) but have not received a reply. I am tempted to email again but feel like I am just being a pest as i genuinely think I failed it.

Have you chased yours up?
Has anyone else waited over a month for a response and had positive news?

I never chased the dmi up and got the successful around two weeks after.

I did chase the MMI though and got a reply saying I was successful.

I would defo email and chase them

I was wondering if anyone that’s gone through the trainee driver application process can let me know how long it typically takes to get a date booked in for the medical. I had my 2nd assessment day on the 19th of Feb and was told I was successful on 21st of Feb.

I had mine within 2 weeks of passing the final assessment. Good luck

Scotrail use an external company and can only block book when that company have availability. I think a whole load of companies use them as well, so it may take a wee while.

I passed 2nd assessments and MMI on 27th Feb and am still waiting for medical date as well.

Done my medical on 6th February. Heard nothing from Scotrail since, contacted Optima who confirmed no issues with my medical so basically everything is done. Just want this start date!

I done the same and got in touch with them and also no issues, sent an email to ScotRail but still nothing. Hopefully sooner than later, the wait is torture

Totally agree, its very hard to stay motivated at your current job when you know you'll be off soon, but dont have any start date! Glad I'm not the only one thinking this.

The normal course of events after passing the medical are,

It’s nuts, could really do with some sort of date or contact, it’s hard being self employed waiting on it

Had an email tonight saying that I have passed and that I have my DMI on Tuesday! Thankfully we had a heads up that the interviews would be then so I have already started my preparation.

Gone around 8 months of hearing nothing to a sudden rush of emails and progress.
