William Lever bought the Rivington Hall Estate at the turn of the 20th century and used his wealth to renovate the old barns and create a large public park. He is better known as Lord Leverhulme, the creator of Port Sunlight, where he built his works and a model village to house its employees.

Steve Pemberton is one of creators of The League of Gentlemen, set in a town called Royston Vasey.

We'll go with the southern Royston.

Final assembly of the Hawker Harrier and the Hawker Siddeley Hawk trainer took place at Dunsfold from the early 1960s. In June 1999, British Aerospace announced the closure of Dunsfold as part of a restructuring; Hthe awk final assembly had been transferred to Warton in 1988 and Harrier production finished in 1998.

The traveller and plant collector[Reginald John Farrer (born in Marylebone, London in 1880) travelled to Asia in search of a variety of plants, many of which he brought back to England and planted near his home village of Clapham, North Yorkshire.

The annual World Pie Eating Championship is usually held at Harry's Bar on Wallgate, Wigan. In December 2005, controversy was caused when pies were imported from nearby Farnworth, Bolton. The local Wigan pies were sidelined as it was believed they were substandard.
