Are there any ticket offices that are single manned?
I can think of many that aren't manned at all, or have a full compliment of staff but not any that have a single member.

Earlswood (Surrey) is one, manned 0630-1030 weekdays only. Bernie is excellent, a real credit to GTR (perhaps the only real credit to GTR!)

Do you mean 1 person based at station for 1 shift only or 1 person PER shift if open longer ?

Oldfield Park. Maybe slightly cheating as it doesn't really a ticket office, more a small shed where a member of staff with guards ticket machine sells tickets for a couple of hours during the morning peak. Sometimes there is an additional member of staff selling tickets on the platform, but most of the time it is just one member of staff.

I also seem to remember Castle Cary only having one member of staff, whose role also involved the dispatch of HST's. That may have changed in the 6 years since I used the station regularly though!

I would suggest a fair few of Merseyrail stations, Wallasey Grove Road, Wallasey Village for starters. New Brighton used to have at least 3 station staff during the day as well as a mess room.

There are several in the Yorkshire area with only one member of staff in the ticket office, sometimes augmented by a second person sitting just outside with a ticket machine at peak times. The ticket office is required for season tickets etc.

For example if someone wants to get a wheelchair across to platform 2 or 3 at Selby, the ticket office closes whilst the member of staff escorts them over the tracks.

Totton,

only one member of staff during the morning commute on weekdays only, if she's off sick, then you're on your own

Thorne North and Goole stations only one member of staff in a morning and closed in the afternoon.

Mexborough just one member of staff per shift, one morning one afternoon.

Swinton just mornings only for tickets and they are SYTE staff selling tickets.

Thirsk seems to be single staffed most of the time, but there's several people who work there, just not at once. The only time you see more than one person there is usually when there's about to be a change of shift. So if somebody needs to use the barrow crossing or the station needs gritting, there's no ticket office. When there is the ticket office only has one position anyway. Although there's now a card only TVM to supplement this.

What's the arrangement at Carnforth? My brother said the ticket office is only open during weekday mornings, perhaps that's a better candidate?

I believe there are more single manned stations in Greater Manchester than stations with multiple members of staff, even accounting for the agency staff.

Farnworth near Bolton, think it opens until 1pm.

My local station Hither Green is single manned but has a shift change, don't know why they keep it open, it has TVM's and the majority of people use Oyster/Contactless

Overton, Hampshire. Ticket office open Monday - Friday mornings from early (I'm not going out to check to times) till about 10.20. A regular member of staff who does a fine job. It's been like that for at least 15 years, but a few years ago SWT built a new somewhat larger office.

Almost all Merseyrail ticket offices have one member of staff at any given time. I suspect mostly 3 shifts though as they are open for roughly 18 hours a day.

I don't think I have to spell it out but I wouldn't be happy with a searchable list of higher risk parts of a business. I've noted the comments about the RDG. Not all TOCs have noted single manned stations.

I think Leyland is single manned, 2 shifts per day. Only ever seen 3 different ticket clerks there, one of them no more than 3 times.

Pluckley, Sandling, Folkestone West, Shepherd's Well are a couple I can think of down my way that are manned by one person.

I thought the thread is about ticket offices where only one member of staff usually works, not ticket offices which have multiple staff doing multiple shifts from one ticket window.

Doesn't Schedule 17 give a comprehensive list, or is that a different definition of 'single manned'?

https://www.raildeliverygroup.com/files/Publications/services/rsp/TSA_schedule_17_July_2015.pdf

I'm not sure what it means. Northern apparently have none while Merseyrail stations staffed 7 days a week are classed as 'single staffed.' If Merseyrail make the same person work from 05:00 to midnight six days a week as well as a shorter shift on Sunday then they should be in court for breaking employment laws. ;) So in the Merseyrail context it must mean one ticket window open at a time but then Northern have plenty of those but they aren't listed.

If I were a criminal with enough intelligence to look at this website for information about railway sites I might rob, I'd probably be able to work out
1) that ticket offices with just one clerk may not take enough cash to make it worth the risk;
2) that at the times the office is open and taking in cash it won't make much difference whether there's one or more than one clerk, because there will be members of the public buying tickets and they might have a go at me.

Instead I'd join the website and start a thread about the most light-used services with a commercial guard so I could plan an on-board robbery and make my getaway by train.

I don't think I've ever seen more than one person at the ticket office at Tipton, when it's open.
