I knew I'd missed something, I was actually wondering if you were referring to specific Class 67 or Class 90 locos, as they were the only things I could think of that hauled sleepers!
A few years ago some of the Class 47s at Eastfield had their own nicknames, again some people knew exactly which locos we were referring to, other people just didn't understand!

IIRC the FGW one can vary, something about an extra coach usually added on Fridays to accommodate the extra passengers?

EDIT:

Also which is the correct way the FGW sleeper should be formed? It seems to get turned around so many times on Yeovil diversions especially that most that once day I see the passenger cars at the london end, next day they are at the country end etc...

cheers,

James.

I worked on some of the last Scotland - London Euston Saturday night sleepers
They were such a joke!
Passenger loadings were unbelievably low, quite often the Aberdeen sleeper would have less than a dozen passengers
Added to that the two hours extra journey time, along with engineering delays which all too often extended that!
Quite often the Aberdeen, due at 09:30, would arrive at least an hour late
I personally loved them as working just one return trip was the equivalent of three days work

I assume you meant some of the last under BR, since the FSR operated Caladonian sleeper still runs.

AIUI Northern have a unit (a 158 I think) called Trainbaby... and IIRC SWT had one called Damien because the crews believed it was evil.

Ah r5ight, you were referring specifically to that one service. It wasn't totally clear from your last post what you were referring to. My apologies.
