One of the pair of snow ploughs seen at Peterborough on Saturday. Anyone know how many other snow ploughs there are dotted around the network, and where they are located?
Hope this isn't a stupid question, but: Why do the independent snowploughs have a cabin? Unlike the loco pushing them (the driver can see through the cut-out) , they have no forward vision. Is it for communication (non-verbal) with the loco crew?

They are converted steam locomotive tenders, the "cabin" is the old coal space end.
Aren't most the remaining ones these days on old class 40 bogies? There definitely have been ploughs on tender frames in the past though, wouldn't surprise me if a few were still extant.
Is that not the Bellihack ploughs (the little ones?)
