When collecting these tokens from the newspapers (Daily Star appears to be the cheapest) do they have to be from different days (ie are the tokens dated) or can you buy two on the same day and that will do the job?

Thanks in advance.

I buy all of my needed Liverpool Echo`s on the same day.
The look of the newsagents as I buy 10 copies is a picture.

Transport for Wales - Sale on Advance tickets.

I was surprised not to get any email notification as I generally get the TFW alerts.

Fares are visible on National Rail, Forum site and other sites but not on TPE mixing desk, which also surprised me.

Edit: Now received TFW alert (twice) and advance fares now showing in mixing deck.

Money Saving Expert have details of a free four-year 16-25 Railcard being offered by Santander if you open a savings account with them. They claim that a 25 year old can use the offer and get a Railcard valid until they are 29.

Is this likely to be correct or have MSE misunderstood the offer? Normally the best you can get is a card valid until the day before your 27th birthday.

Seems quite unusual.

It is a fixed 4 year Railcard, which you are eligible to obtain providing you are aged 20-25 at the time https://www.santander.co.uk/personal/current-accounts/railcard-offer

However you redeem the code on this branded section of the Railcards website: https://secure.railcard.co.uk/purchase/santander

Which, if you click any of the links to Santander 16-25 Railcard terms, you get taken to the normal 16-25 Railcard terms, which talk about 1 and 3 year Railcards and birthdays, but nothing about this 4 year Santander Railcard. It's also confusing they've called it a Santander 16-25 Railcard when you can't get it until you're 20, but nevermind.

It does seem that MSE is correct though - if you open the account when you're saying 25 and 364 days old, you'll get a 16-25 Railcard valid until the day before your 30th birthday.

I suppose since the introduction of 26-30 Railcards it's not really a great 'hack' unless you really need the different morning or summer holidays validity which comes with a 16-25 Railcard. It's a nice saving on the normal cost of buying 16-25 / 26-30 Railcards though.

Uber have an Uber One Members Week from 16/5/2025 - 23/5/2025 whereby one of the offers is 20% back in Uber Credits on train bookings during this period, double the normal Uber One members 10% and non members of course receive 5% credit. I would add that I had left Uber One and have been offered a free 30 days membership to rejoin. I've made a note to cancel membership before any payment is taken!

My British Airways American Express card is now offering 5 Avios per £1 spent on Avanti, to a maximum of 3,000 Avios. I will probably stick with the LNER 10% cashback.

What on earth will someone be paying £7 (+) for on a London to Cambridge GA service?
That seems to be the secret fare price rather than a first class upgrade. Not brilliant value in some cases, given that e.g. the Greater Anglia-only off-peak day return is £18.30 with a railcard.

Ironically I always do it when travelling between London and Cambridge using the WAML with a change in Stansted Airport. Both legs with comfortable & well maintained 2+2 configuration Swiss train with table and socket guaranteed is a real hit, in my view it's even way more decent than the GN/TL 1st class experience. I'm quite sure that if GA had the vision to invest in more class 745 for Cambridge route, there would be considerable amount of City commuters switch to its service.

Surprised not more chat about this. Booked an awful lot of tickets with this discount.

FWIW Uber one also tends to offer a massive discount for 3 months when you attempt to cancel. I think I'm paying 99p/month at the moment!

I was offered 12 months for £40 when I cancelled Uber One.

I could not justify paying that for an extra 5% in rail fare rebates.

The problem with the enhanced rebates in Uber One - you have to be a member when you book and when the rebate comes through - in order to get the full amount.

I do think Uber deliberately delay some payouts if you are nearing the end of your membership period.

I had one rebate that took longer than usual to come through, as I was nearing the end of my Uber One membership. Suspiciously it then arrived two days after the membership ended - at the standard 5% rate.
