Hi, just a quick one.

Are said tickets issued as CDS' with a destination of 'Roundabout' (I225) or are they issued as a ranger/rover ticket?

Cheers,

TP

BRFares shows it as a single ticket rather than a rover, no results found on the rovers/rangers section and a CDS shown on the normal section from an example station (Glasgow Queen St), so I would assume it is issued like that on the ground (so to speak!)

That is the exact investigation I carried out.. which caused me to ask the question. I plan to use one this coming Saturday, and if possible I need to get it issued by an ATW office in order to use value on a Rail Travel Voucher (combined with other tickets). However, in order to do this, I want to know how it is set up in order to be able to prompt the clerk if needed.

The SPT Roundabout is indeed sold as a CDS, with the departure station being any in the specified area of validity. If buying at a booking office in Strathclyde, entering the code I225 as the destination in Star will bring up the desired ticket, which costs £6.30.

The theory being then, it is available to be issued out of area. Brilliant.

It prints out as a standard CDS.

There are no fares available for an out-of-area Roundabout, so it can't be issued.
My intentions are to get a normal £6.30/£3.15 roundabout issued at an ATW office. This should be possible by inserting an in area station in the from field and of course, I225 into the To field, on the TIS.

The last two that I have had have been printed on normal stock - purchased at Glasgow Central and Glasgow Queen Street respectively. Also amazing that they worked in all the barriers at Central & Queen Street (both high level & low level at both).

Any chance you can upload a picture / scan of the ticket for me, please?

Cheers.

A roundabout ticket issued at a station or on Avantix is a bog standard cheap day single on bog standard ticket stock. In the stations part it will say from "Airdrie" to "Roundabout".

Please see attached image - the upper ticket was purchased at Glasgow Central (High Level) while the lower one was an advanced purchase at Queen Street High Level. Note that they are issued on different ticket stock!

Thankyou, the ticket stock difference is purely due to the introduction of new common stock. There is a large thread about it.

A change in travel plans meant that I obtained this, this morning, at Wolverhampton and I am now northbound to Glasgow.

Cheers all.

I think that has been incorrectly issued.
It is the correct price for a roundabout but a roundabout is not valid from/to prestwick airport.
It would only cover between Glasgow and Milliken Park on the Ayr line.
To be honest though I don't imagine you will encounter any problems with it as it is clearly still valid for use within the roundabout area.
