Bit in the Westmorland gazette this week that there is a petition going round asking that Apollo Travel are allowed to retain the 106 contract rather than awarding to Reays.

Why is it that every time there seems to be a contract change, people feel the need to petition the council that the incumbent operator, who has lost, should keep the contract? Surely this means their council tax goes up, and they'll then moan at that. Perhaps they ought to ask the incumbent operator why they put in a dearer bid.

How about because Apollo8 are a small family run company who need to turn a profit? Unlike Reay's who are slightly bigger, predatory and willing to take a small loss in order to expand.

I agree mbonwick, Reays are like a big cat waiting to pounce on these small family run firms waiting to see what they get their hands on.

Slightly off topic, but are we therefore possibly saying that Reays in 2000s are like what stagecoach were, and maybe still are, in the 1980s/1990s?

To bring this discussion to a close, a thought for those residents signing the petition; you want low council tax rates, yet you want the dearest tender to win a contract, even if they provide a good service. You can't have it both ways. Perhaps reays will prove the doubters wrong.

Oh do shut up!

The residents are doing the right thing and supporting a small local family independent. We don't tend to complain about council tax here, so where's the problem?

Well it's not my council tax that's up for debate here, but anyway, to return on topic.

Stagecoach East Scotland has now got all its E400s back from games duty, and are all back in service at home depots. So, when will Stagecoach North West have all theirs back?

Half back next week, half back when the Paralympics are over.

The loan outs to Merseyside will be back when their E300s are back in service, post-Paralympics.

Thanks for the update, like to keep up.A further one to come to Barrow, probably PX12EFB?
PX12 EFA & PX12 EFC have been parked-up S.J.Bargh (Scania Dealer) on Caton Road in Lancaster for few weeks, after breaking-down on delivery. They finally left on Wednesday (8th August).

Thanks-wondered where it was, no news on 18380? Solo 47136 looks well in the nearly all white livery-in Barrow.

Yes, 15821 should be PX12 EFB.

Not convinced that both 15820/2 broke down on delivery, I imagine they've been sat at SJB for modification to gear ratios among other things, and for the sake of not having them clog Morecambe up.

18380 should have departed Carlisle early last week after full repaint.

18380 Was in Barrow depot on Tuesday when I was last there and hadnt been painted!!! 18330 was at Carlisle for repaint!!

Also 20711 worked the 1310 508 to Penrith again today :)

Ah 18330 sounds right!

We had 60 branded 34683 on the 600 today until replaced by Trident 18357. 34683 then went onto the 38 while 18357 went onto the 179.

34705 on 65/75 tonight.

The answer is 22134.

When I saw both 22134 & 22135 in the Bus Stn, I thought I was seeing things.

There is a B10M running around Lancaster with "in Cumbria" fleetnames, and carries "in Manchester" adverts.

18330 is back in service on 2 & 2A's with a fresh repaint.

Think your getting your wires crossed. Reays have not been awarded all of the 106 just the part that Stagecoach did as far as i am aware Apollo are still doing the bit they did!

That's what the Gazette reported, I'm not passing judgement on how misguided the well intentioned campaigners are.
