Will these be 2X/X2 style splits, where the bus, driver and passengers continue onwards to the old final destination, just with a different route number and destination on the front to the one which they started the journey with?

A quick visit into Carlisle this morning: not much of interest at first apart from 33076 on 61/61A and 20451 on 94 and then 66.

More interesting was 52628 on 600. No photo from me yet, as I was using the old fashioned film technology today.

52628 is on the 600 most days. Even if it cannot display what it is supposed to!

Are bus spotters actually allowed in Carlisle depot?
I was gonna try and get in today but I only went as far as that bus stop on Willowholme Road.

They are the same type of route splits. Sooner the better at Lillyhall really, I'm pretty sure 52628 is the only properly working tacho'd bus at LL that isn't falling apart.....

Ohh, do the staff not shout at bus spotters if you walk all the way round? I might have a walk round 1 time. :D

There's a public footpath that goes around the outside of the depot, down the back of Staceys Coaches big yard, and down towards the river. You can effectively walk in a circle around the outside of the depot, due to the footpath going right around it, with a "turn off" to go behind Staceys then down to the river, although 1 part of it is usually very muddy and slippy  I've nearly ended up on my ar*e a few times.

 Eh , itsa flyin machine that, now its had the Chorley treatment...:D

Just a shame the best of the R-NBV's Lillyhall had on the 300 isn't with us anymore! I always found 16655 the better one to ride on.

That's good then, I might have a look in 1 time! It's a pity Lillyhall don't have a public footpath right next to the depot. :D

Where about is the footpath? Iv'e tried to look for it on Google Maps but can's seem to find it. :(

Yellow shows the main footpath, from Willowholme Road (the way most people would go down there), and going down the back of Staceys, to the top end of the estate. The best way is to follow Willowholme Road around, as the footpath that way is solid. If you turn off just before the workshops on that bit of footpath, it is rather muddy and slippy.
The blue line shows the footpath to The Sheepmount, but is usually rather muddy

CUMBRIAN BRIDGE DUE TO REOPEN TO TRAFFIC NEXT WEEK
Last updated at 21:10, Thursday, 24 February 2011
A west Cumbrian bridge is due to reopen to traffic next Friday - weeks ahead of schedule.

And at the same time as vehicles are allowed back across Workington Bridge, Northside Road will again become two-way, said Cumbria County Council.

The bridge recently reopened to pedestrians - 15 months after it was severely damaged by flood waters - and there was dismay when it was claimed it would not fully reopen until April.

But officials have now revealed that good weather has allowed workers to make quicker than expected progress in water-proofing and resurfacing.

Andy Dean, of Connect Roads, said the project was weeks ahead of schedule and he was confident of completing it by March 4.

“We have worked hard to make sure the bridge can reopen ahead of time. I am comfortable saying it will reopen sooner rather than later.

“I know it’s been frustrating for residents but we are working hard to ease the strain,” he said.

Kevin Walsh, contract manager for the council, said: “We will be opening Northside Road to two-way traffic. There will be a mini-roundabout installed at the north end of the temporary road bridge.

“The work to install the roundabout will not be done until the last minute because our main priority is getting Workington Bridge back open.”

The council will restore the riverbank at Barepot when the Army has finished taking down the Barker Crossing temporary footbridge.
