Yes it has! The Costa appeared after the recent refurbishment of the station. On leaving the platforms it is on the right as you head towards the main entrance, just past the similarly new information desk.

Whilst I don't mind Costa too much, YET ANOTHER ONE isn't what I think Swansea needed. Bar a few independents and a single Starbucks (spit) dotted around the city centre, you can't move in Swansea for Costa.

I've been holding out for a Caffe Nero. Was a bit upset when I found out Carmarthen got one before Swansea :(

While I am not a big fan of Costa by any means, it can't be as bad as the plastic paradis Pumpkin that it's replaced!

The new Wakefield Westgate has a Costa. I think the old concourse had something more independant, possibly (or less well known) but that has, of course, now gone

DanTrainMan185, you missed Costa off your entry for Manchester Piccadilly. Two small outlets, one next to p12 near the facilities and another small one upstairs in the lounge area for p13 and 14.

I have indeed, how bad as a Costa barista myself!

I for one do as I'm a Costa Coffee Club member so like to build my points up. Plus I know I can have a proper, decent coffee in Costa so if I'm on a long journey down the Marches I will ensure I visit the Costa outlet by p12 at Piccadilly!

Glad to hear it! Indeed so!

Also, are we including places like Pumpkin and Upper Crust? If so, you missed off Pumpkin at Crewe. Stockport has Gourmet and Pumpkin. Hereford has Pumpkin too.

Could name a lot of places in the Midlands for those!

Indeed so! Anything!

There are also the various SSC outlets (£1.84 for a small coffee with a Bite card) - Ritazza, Upper Crust, Pasty Shop - a Pret (my vote for the quickest service of a half-decent coffee*) and, if you're really desperate, Burger King.

Further north, Wigan NW has Pumpkin and Lancaster a Costa plus what I think is an independent food outlet.

* interpret that as you will ;)

Indeed. The small shop at Llanelli seems very popular. It sells tea, coffee, bacon rolls and toast, along with some magazines, pre packed sandwiches, cold drinks, crisps and chocolate.

Hmmm.....what sort of magazines <D

Seriously forget these "crap chain" Cafes - Crianlarich used to have a really good cafe with home baking and the like.....

but only about 2 trains per day

Not sure who runs the cafe at Liverpool South Parkway but I noticed a sign at the entrance yesterday saying "New - All Day Breakfast - Served All Day!" The clue is in the name surely!

Aside from Costa, then...

Reigate and Coulsdon South have Jaconelli's, which appears to be an independent group of a couple of shops which sort of open when they feel like it... but the coffee is generally nice enough, if you can get it! Pity about a customer's dog dragging that table on the line at Coulsdon South recently, but such is life.

Redhill has Puccino's, as do quite a few stations in the South-East, I find. Service at those usually seems to be quite friendly. There are also a few places in the town centre which aren't bad, including some independent cafés. The town centre, during daylight hours, is in no way entirely as depressing as some people make out, once you've used your battlefield tactics to get past the yoof outside McDonald's.

Tonbridge, Brighton Waiting Room and Guildford, as well as possibly some other places, have the Flying Coffee Bean mini-chain. I haven't used them, but they seem to have a good reputation.

Hassocks café hasn't been open when I've popped by, but is rumoured to be considered invaluable by local residents of a morning, especially if Balcombe has broken again, or something. Hopefully the overall caffeinated experience will be enhanced when they've finished rebuilding the subway, which can add a fair bit of noise and mud!

If I must use a chain anywhere, I'm afraid, OP, it is usually Caffe Nero (not least because they're on my good books due to the O2 Priority free coffee).

Inverurie and Dingwall have (I believe) independent cafes / tea rooms.

Kyle of Lochalsh has a self service refreshments area in the small museum on the station.

Nottingham has an AMT and Pumkin cafe, with a Starbucks just across the road.
Newark Northgate has a Costa
Worksop has an Independent Cafe (That does a brilliant bacon roll)

It does indeed! :p
The Mem would agree there. She also frequents Sue's snack van at Sleaford in a morning for a bacon roll when she can.

This is what I miss by not drinking hot drinks, finding all the wonderful coffee shops in towns.
Although i'm a regular visitor to my local town centre Costa i have to agree. Whilst my town centre seems to be ravaged by a 'clone' feature of nothing but charity shops and coffee shops it is the national chain brands that are aiding and abetting the loss of many independent traders.

Returning to the thread regarding stations..had an issue at Kings Cross on my last visit. The Cafe Nero kiosk doesn't accept Bite cards as they do their own loyalty card. :-x

I would suggest that the reason Caffe Nero do not accept Bite Cards is because the Bite Card is a 'product' of SSP, which is a separate company to Caffe Nero.
