Just seen this from a couple of days ago:

UPDATE ... No ice ... The driver behind this car saw him indicating to turn in the station. She beeped her horn to warn him but the inevitable happened. At least no-one was hurt which is the most important thing.

Image shows car wedged between the station building and subway

For those who don't know this is the foot entrance to the Leeds bound platform.

Thank goodness no one was hurt.

SatNav to blame?
As well as the idiot behind the wheel.
Probably not just the idiot, the car should simply have been on the road other side of the stone wall and turned a few metre earlier so the stone wall was to the drivers left not their right...

Quick thinking by the driver ensured he didn't go into the crossing gates and onto the track... see http://www.harrogateadvertiser.co.u...dged-in-knaresborough-train-station-1-8361028

A temporary barrier has been installed at Knaresborough train station after a car crashed into a platform on Friday morning.

The driver of the Peugeot 207 was travelling down Kirkgate at around 11am when he skidded on the ice and lost control of his car.

In order to avoid carrying on straight through the crossing gates, the driver steered right before crashing into the north-bound platform at the station.

There's apparently a contradiction between the Facebook post and newspaper article - the former says there was no ice, the latter says that there was.

... and that the driver was able to steer but not brake?

Braking when you hit ice can be disastrous. I had a spin on black ice as a novice driver in 1981, at the beginning of the M20 and imo am only here now to tell the tale because, instinctively, I hardly touched the brake.

The newspaper also got the car model wrong as well. In the facebook article the driver of the car following says there was no ice
