See edit in my post.Thank you very much for the update. 514 was still active on passenger duties with 529 vice 458/4 at the time of my post, so it must have been stopped within the last 24 hours

Would explain why 8424 had a new train smell this morning!Thursday 17/10/24
458424 has become the 17th 458/4 to enter passenger service today
Thanks for this.Thursday 17/10/24

8423 suffered a massive electrical fault unrelated to any works. It’s having to have a lot of wiring and components replaced.458416 entered service 09.09.24
458423 entered service 13.08.24 but only lasted until 21.08.24 when it failed at Queenstown on 2S43 and has not worked since. So sixteen in service of the seventeen that have worked is probably a fair statement?
My boldThanks for this.
I have sixteen in service: 401, 408, 409, 410, 412, 413. 415. 420, 421, 422, 423, 424, 425, 426, 427 and 428 (not in order of delivery).
I reckon the seventeenth will be one of 404 (returned to Bournemouth 24th Jan '24, post 2,329), or 407 or 417 (both returned to Bournemouth 23rd Oct '23, post 1,883).
Can anyone advise which one it is, please, and when it first entered service?
Many thanks
407 and 417 seem to have been earmarked for the driver training runs between Wimbledon Depot and WokingMy bold
Really - almost a year and not used, I wonder why ?.
Many thanks TEW & Siemens Staines, very helpful458416 is the one you're missing. I can't remember the exact date it entered service, but at least a month ago.
Am I right in thinking this is the penultimate one to go?458519 has left to go to Bournemouth today.
maybe the last one.....Am I right in thinking this is the penultimate one to go?
514 still to gomaybe the last one.....
Just the remaining ex gatex units that haven’t gone off lease and 529/530Will there be no 458/5s then? Or are they keeping some in service alongside the /4s?
Same pairing as I saw about 10 days ago.I saw 458 514 in service today, so it's still clinging on...
It was with 458 529.
Still hasn’t been updated on any of them as far as I’m awareOn todays 2S53 17:22 Waterloo to Weybridge service: https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:L61827/2024-11-02/detailed#allox_id=0 the CIS on 458413 (and I assume 458425 as well) announced that due to short platforms at the next station Hounslow you must leave from front 8 coaches. Which is really helpful considering there the service only had 8 coaches. Did no-one update the CIS to reflect the loss of the 5th car during the conversion from 458/5 to 458/4?
As far as I'm aware 458531, 32 and 34 (all ex gatwicks) have been withdrawn from service so that leaves 33, 35 and 36. Not sure when those will go. Likely when they run out of lease miles.May I know how long the remaining ex Gatwick Express (458531-458536) units will remain? I would go to London at the beginning of December and take some pictures of them.
Only 3? What about 458029 and 458030, which are not part of the conversion programme? It might have been mentioned before, but is it possible for a 458/4 and a 458/5 to run together and if so has it happened ? As there are only 3 x 458/5s left in service it seems unlikely to happen now.

530 is out today. As is 514.Only 3? What about 458029 and 458030, which are not part of the conversion programme?
@Janos97 specifically asked about the ex-Gatwick (Class 460) units, 458531-536.Only 3? What about 458029 and 458030, which are not part of the conversion programme?
