Hi guys,

I applied for a Gateline position with SWR on the 21st June, the vacancy closed on the 22nd. The status on the website still only says "application submitted" and hasn't updated yet, I know of others who have applied and already been rejected. The fact mine hasn't been rejected could be a good sign?

Any advice appreciated, thank you.

Hey Vertical,

Thanks for your message. Out of curiosity are you currently going through the recruitment process or already employed? Also which TOC?

Nice! How long did they take to contact you after your initial application and how do they contact? Post, phone or email?
Recruitment process has taken about 4 months from initial application to passing medical. Although I am still waiting on official job offer, I hope to to start training late July. Contact after application about two weeks via email then letter as letter acts as train ticket to Southampton where assessments and interviews take place. I was congratulated by phone after passing interview. You would usually be contacted by email then a letter.

Ahh, so the fact it's only been 1 week since I put my application in is pretty normal? Because I applied for a guard role last year and was told the day after the closing date that I was unsuccessful. But this time I got my application in the day before the closing date.

Sorry you was unable too get through as a guard, although a lot of guard vacancies have come up for various depots, 1 week is normal, thousands of people apply for the vacancies that come up, you can check the progress of your application via the first group careers website. Good luck

I've confirmed my place on the assessment day but not received any material. Am I right in think they email it or do they post it to you?

There should be practice material on route to you. If you don’t get any getting closer to the day call or email HR to chase. As far as I am aware it’s a ticket checking test and a ‘working with words’ test. Remember all the ID they require as they do send people home who turn up without a specific requested item and turn up smart. Good luck mate.

Take the gateline in my opinion , then show them what a great employee you are.
