The transfer paths for 707024 and 707030 are now on RTT. The pair are leaving the network early morning on the 07/09
Wimbledon park depot sidings to Waterloo
Waterloo to Gillingham E.M.U.D
A rare track move on the old Eurostar chord by the looks of things.

The 2 707s arrived into Gillingham very early this morning, at around 2am. This marks the end of 707s for SWR
Also marks the fact that a relatively simple process took getting on for 3 years. I wonder how the planned timescale read back in Sep 2021?

I think we all know why it took so long...

www.realtimetrains.co.uk and old rail record Websites are showing the following.
Friday 13th September 2024.
1. 5Q94 0626 Wimbledon park Csd to Long Marston. Involving barrier vehicles.
Does anyone know which unit is going into store at Long Marston please.
Thank you

5729 stopped waiting material
5716/5735/5851 are at Bournemouth for C4. 5732 is in the queue for C4. 5904 has one carriage away for corrosion repairs at Brodies.

So they are paying to repair 40 year old trains,
whilst also paying leases on new 701s

I wonder how much longer repairs will be sanctioned, rather than withdrawal

If the allocation on RTT is correct, then 5735 is in service today but @WarrenTManager is an authoritative source, so this allocation could be wrong?

It’s showing as out and about on our internal site genius so maybe it’s just returned from its C4

Came back yesterday afternoon! BM must have done the ex-C4 exam as well as it's gone straight into traffic.

I'd imagine 8534. 8531 has also had handback work but 8534 is showing as being on 1 New Sidings where its handily placed for forming up with the barriers. 8531 is in the shed. Don't think they can take both?

I imagine it will stop as soon as the first all-day 701 diagram displaces a pair of 450s off Windsor services.

Apologies, had posted this in the SE thread by accident earlier.

Some metro services are running fast between Raynes Park and Waterloo "due to overcrowding as the train is formed of fewer coaches than usual"

I wonder if it will reach a point where SWR will have to choose between cancelling a diagram or shortform more services and still cancel some of the calling points

Does anyone have any idea what the status of 455856? Haven't seen it for a while and it hasn't come up when searching for it on RTT either.

Also the stock shortage has bitten big this week with far too many 4 car sets on busy services, including 2C55 Waterloo to Reading two days in a row...
Guessing this is due to "more trains than usual needing repairs" or something along those lines.

Given that 12 458/4s are now diagrammed, plus one extra 701, both together surely more than balancing out withdrawn 458/5s this surely indicates that 455s are now becoming unavailable.

The number of 455 diagrams has dropped, there's often a diagram being covered by 458s too. A year ago it was near enough unheard of for a 455 diagram to be shortformed. Availability has definitely dipped.

Will swr bother returning it to service or will it just be a trip to Newport docks?

Must be very difficult to justify spending money on any repairs or overhauls of 455s, now that SWR are apparently leasing upto about 600 of the 750 class 701s vehicles that have passed fault free running
