This page says that it is restricted to Brighton & Hove and Metrobus, so I guess it depends what you need whether it works for you.
I've used my Brighton PlusBus on Big Lemon buses as well as B&H; I think it covers Compass too. I'm not sure that Southdown, as also mentioned, still exists! (It doesn't work on the longer-distance coastal services to Worthing etc etc [route 700?], run by whichever other company.)

My comment refers to using the KeyGo smartcard for PlusBus fares to be applied after the event, not to paper PlusBus tickets.

What had you used to get to Farringdon? The readers are there for touching in or out of the system, they are not pink readers to define the route you are using.

Canary Wharf to where? It's difficult to see what might have happened without knowing the end station.
I'd come from Canary wharf to Farringdon to catch the Thameslink. There should be oyster/card readers at every entrance to the station, but there are none anywhere near the lifts that come up from the Elizabeth Line.

Yesterday I came up the lift from the Elizabeth line to the southbound Thameslink platform and saw nowhere to 'tap out' from the underground, so have been charged £8.40 instead of £2.80 for the trip from Canary wharf.

If you come up the escalator there is one reader on the wall at the bottom of the escalators that go up to the concourse, so I did that today but it's not ideal.
If you have an incomplete journey you should be able to resolve it on the TfL website and specify where you finished your journey.

They are located on the platform between shared between the Southbound Thameslink and anti-clockwise H&C/Circle/Met.
Hello. I’ve been looking into the discussions regarding the switch between Elizabeth line to Thameslink Southbound at Farringdon but am confused about the switch from TfL to National Rail services.

I tap in with Oyster at London Liverpool Street to take Elizabeth line to Farringdon, then head to Thameslink southbound platform (for the train to Brighton). I’ve only done this route twice before but wasn’t sure where to tap out my Oyster. I wasn’t able to find any standalone card readers but perhaps I need to look for it more thoroughly.

I found a helpful map of the station which I can hopefully attach here. The arrows are the direction I typically come from (from Elizabeth line).

Is the circled region where the standalone card readers (to tap Oyster) are located if on the Thameslink Southbound platform?

There will be many visitors to London who have no idea that they are expected to do this. Is it in any way made clear to them and what are the consequences for not tapping the yellow readers?
Baldock has them as well, I have no idea of their purpose, especially when there are posters everywhere saying Oyster cards are not accepted at this station ??

Yes, at the top of the steps to the underground platform. However, I have to say that I can't see any benefit in using the Elizabeth line for such a journey as the interchange at Farringdon is far more convenient from the Met/H&C/Circle lines.

They are for use with smartcards.

Contactless PAYG was recently extended to that area.
KeyGo, which is a GTR version of PAYG using their Key smartcard, can be used at Baldock and many season tickets are issued on smartcards these days.

Contactless (i.e. an extension of the TfL system) is due to be extended to Baldock in the next year or so.

Why not just get the circle/met/h&c from Liv St to Farringdon, then it's a "same platform" change to southbound Thameslink. As seen on the diagram, there are a few stairs involved as the Thameslink platform is slightly lower than the tube platform, but you don't need to go up to the footbridge. You can't miss the Oyster readers when doing this

On the tube map the Elizabeth Line looks like the better option with no indication that the long walk at Liverpool Street and the vertical separation are a bigger overhead than the 2 stops on the sub surface lines.
