Taplow Footbridge is recieving a £250,000 rennovation ahead of the Rowing Championships in August at Dorney Rowing Lake.
I turned up at Taplow early to find the bridge half shrouded in shrinkwrap and scaffold. Apparently the work started on Monday 12th June, and is set to last 8 weeks. By the looks of the scaffold and covering, it will be impossible to use the bridge to take pics from over the summer! bummer! and will ruin any shots of trains passing through the station which is also a shame.
On the good side, its not a ghastly modernisation project like so many of the foot bridges along the GWML. Taplows bridge will be restored to its previous style and glamour
Although it wont be original materials anymore.
Also worth noting is that all the station signs are now changing following the FGW franchise win. A pure purple strip now covers over the two tone purple and blue at the bottom of all signage. With the F and First Great Western logo adorning it.
