TfL Freedom Pass/NR Senior Railcard fares

Hopefully an easy question.

My mother in March will become a London Councils Freedom Pass holder, however as she doesn't have a Senior railcard, when she gets her Freedom Pass be able to buy NR tickets at the senior rate or buy a boundary Zone 6 ticket to Brighton at the adult rate?

Unfortunately you need a Senior Railcard to get Discounts on National Rail Tickets..

The Freedom Pass will give her free National Rail travel at appropriate times in this area. To obtain discounted National Rail travel elsewhere, a Senior Railcard would be needed.

My understanding is that a Freedom Pass holder who does not hold a Senior Railcard may purchase, for example, a full-price adult Boundary Zone 6 - Brighton ticket for travel at a time when the Freedom Pass is valid.

It has been pointed out on this forum that this is sometimes not the cheapest option, eg.

Boundary Zone 6 - Brighton route Any Permitted CDR £16.60 B1
East Croydon - Brighton route Any Permitted CDR £16.70 B1
East Croydon - Brighton route FCC Only CDR £13.00 B1
East Croydon - Brighton route FCC Only CBA £10.00 FB
