Are Southern drivers getting class 700 training (eg Horsham, Redhill, Brighton, Littlehampton drivers) or will it only be Thameslink drivers and any people who transfer over?

Horsham depot is to be split, with a bunch of Southern Horsham drivers transferring to Horshams new Thameslink depot. Thats all i know.

Depends where you sit I guess, I was in the first carriage, standard class so right on the bogie in both directions and it was nasty. To the point where if I had coffee I'd be all over my jacket.

I was comparing similar positions on each class of trains. The Electrostar ride over the bogies can be more like a fairground experience.

1E03 700044 Bedford-Sevenoaks was diverted via Orpington due to late running this evening.

Also managed to get a PSUL over the down Tonbridge fast spur/loop between Bickley and Orpington.

To me, the ride quality (at least at lower speeds) seems exactly like what I'm used to with Classes 350/360/444/450, both over bogies and in the centre of a coach. Not taken a 700 at speed, but I know the older Desiros are lively if you're sat over a bogie at higher speeds, yet very smooth towards the centre of the coach.

700 034 has been reported in France en route for the tunnel today, so it'll probably be over here tomorrow.

It'll be interesting to see if the new arrivals come over with the (newer!) Thameslink logo on them now someone has coughed up the money and it's starting to be applied to units already here, or if they will continue to come over in the old one and have to be changed.. somehow I suspect the latter.

It has been a while since I've seen a class 319 working a service with advertised first class, but this morning 319443 and 319012 worked 1J97 07:58 Bedford - Elephant and Castle vice the usual 700...

Are any 377s still working on Thameslink services, I haven't seen any for a while...?

According to these, June 2017 should see the end of 377s and 319s on Thameslink (May for Thameslink crewed services and later for Southeastern crewed services)
http://aptu.org.uk/pdfs/aptu_annualmeeting2017_gtrmain.pdf
http://aptu.org.uk/pdfs/tlgn_stakeholderforum21032017.pdf

There doesn't seem to be any reason to doubt this as there are 28 of 46 700/0s which have been in service (700002/3/5-10/4-21/3/5/7/9-31/6/8/9/44-6) and only 700001, 700034 and 700035 from this batch left to be delivered.

Next to no chance (soon to go public with this latest failure I belive) - they are miles behind with driver training due to usual GTR uselessness.

Strange that GTR drivers are nearly 100% trained just a handful of stragglers left.

Less than 50% our side unfortunately.

My reply was for GTR drivers not SE.i think the only issues will be the intra route workings ( some diagrams cover all routes) if the can work some 319's to just the Sevenoaks route, There could be an increase in diagrams.

Our LTP's for May still have 319 workings all the way till Dec. We took a couple of your diagrams and got a route back too. I think our side is gonna be messy for a few months.

Another logo ?

Why do TL persist with constant logo changes , when half their fleet have old logos , and a new fleet is still being delivered

Very baffling from GTR

TBF, this is the logo that they've been using for about a year now, I think JaJaWa's comment was made in jest. The 377s received it when they were stripped of their first vinyls, and apparently the vinyls for the 700s had already been ordered, so changing them took time and money.

odd things that GTR do. Dont really understand the logo change. GoVia are very brand aware.....although Southerns reputation has gone to mush (and GTR in general), they seem concerned about the logo design of GN and Thameslink.

They wont repaint or vinyl the 387/1 to match other GN stock, but they are concerned about the logos. Odd.

The 387/1 is to do with paint warranty iirc ( seem to remember 5 years).

...but we can assume they could vinyl them? Or at least the doors?

Or they could repaint/vinyl the remaining units on GN (I do believe which are going through a refurb anyway) and no-one has to worry about paint warranties or mismatched liveries?

if they wanted to repaint they could, warranty or not. All it takes is £££

I have noticed that 377311 has received the updated Southern logo (with a more brighter green), saw it at Clapham Junction yesterday

Must admit it does look a bit small and unless it's just from the photograph it also looks like it's a bit too low

I have no idea what is going on in that picture. Compare it to this one where the logo is much higher:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/144764754@N03/33502297414/in/faves-134874445@N03/

so they've clearly messed up and done it differently/shoddy for each train. Poor thameslink, can't even logo up a train properly!

GN using southerns green livery, thameslink using GN's blue livery, what next? are we gonna come full circle and have southern put with pink doors?

It does seem odd that with southern being so bad in the public eye they'd still use their livery on GN.

Meanwhile Southern's own website, which should be easy to update as it is purely digital, is still not using the new logo...

It's scheduled to be updated soon to match the awful unusable content on the Thameslink site.
