Presumably Trump will claim some part in the appointment as he’s an American

An interesting and hopefully positive election of a moderate to the papacy. An American leader of light, set perhaps in contrast to the force of dark currently occupying the White House?

Is it coincidence that Trump recently announced he wasn't running for a third term.
Bob went into conclave saying that if he doesn't walk out as Pope Bob, then the Vatican will be bombed by next week.
Pope Bob makes Donald a cardinal, does a Pope Benedict and in 4 years time we have Pope Donald I.

Is it just me or is it a bit of a rubbish chimney? Not even a polished brass band round it. The GWR would have done it better
Wonder if it would pass the Part J Building regs... Not sure it's high enough compared to the roofline...

is that being scared of yer dad?

In this country Listed Buildings are exempt from Building Control regs, I expect it's similar in Italy/Vatican State. Even so, the regs say that, whilst chimneys close to the ridge should be 600mm above the ridge; if a bit further away, at least ridge height; this chimney on the Sistine chapel looks further away and (if 2.3m away from the ridge) needs to be 1.8m above the roof it emerges from, or 1m above any nearby opening light (window).

Even so, in this country, it looks as though the election (or, rather the non-election) of a Pope is caught by the Dark Smoke Permitted Period Regulations 1958. No chimney may emit dark smoke continuosly for a period exceeding 4 minutes (otherwise than for soot blowing). The videos I've seen exceed 4 minutes. (What is 'dark smoke' I hear you ask....well it's smoke that exceeds Ringelman shade 2 on a Ringelman chart).
I speak as someone who has held a Ringelman chart in one hand, and a stopwatch in the other, whilst looking at a chimney.....

I am guessing that Trump actually hates this development. He is, arguably, no longer the most important American on the planet.

Maybe, but his response in a situation like this is to twist the narrative to make it all about him
