Was rather intrigued by the 54 bus towards Clevedon, which I never knew existed, but the last departure is at 6.30!

We can't go back to exactly the same place, but we can return along the route. So we wouldn't be allowed to return to Filwood Broadway for example. Think the only exception is when we go from A to B but then there's nowhere to go back from B other than to A (a lot of Arriva Luton and Derby services for instance!).

In that case we will stay at Newton St Loe (The Globe) and noting that it is now too late to catch the X39, we instead board First West of England Aquae service 39 at 2043, alighting at Bath Bus Station at 2056 on the Friday evening.

We exit the bus station onto Broad Quay, where we board the 2107 First West of England Bath City service 4b to Fox Hill (Kewstoke Road), arriving there at 2124 on Friday evening.

Noting that a walk to catch the D2 is too far, and the 20a/20c have stopped running for the night, and not fancying another trip on the 4b, we take our only other option and walk across a Bath suburban building site (using roads that are shown as open for pedestrians on OpenStreetMap.org) for 0.25 mile to Mulberry Pk (The Hub) to catch First West of England Bath City service 2 at 2153. We eschew the fact that this is one of the 3 journeys a day that terminate at the bus station, and alight back in the city centre at Bath City Centre, Manvers St (Be) at 2203 on the Friday evening.

At this time of night, as Peasedown is only served by the hourly 172, our only real option (other than returning towards Bath - again!) is to wait an hour at the same stop for the next First West of England Mendip Explorer service 172 at 2328, and alight at Hallatrow (Claremont Gardens) at 2354 on Friday night.
