We next board the 1138 Bluestar service 1 to Chandler's Ford (the bus stop opposite The Nuffield Hospital on Winchester Road) that arrives there at 1154 on Wednesday morning.

We take the ten minute walk to Corporation Street, where we are just in the nick of time to board the 1930 Arriva Midlands Sapphire service 110 to Whitehouse Common (West View Road), arriving there at 1953 on Wednesday evening.

Loitering on a street corner for 24 minutes until 2017 when we take the NXWM X4 to Six Ways Island arriving at 2034.

Our only option at this time of night is to return on the 2220 Midland Classic X11 to Castle Vale, opposite Forge Lane where we arrive at 2258 on Wednesday.

Is this X11 a relatively new service? I had no idea Midland Classic ran a service from Burton to Aston!

Anyway, we take the one minute walk to the Heyford Way bus stop on Manby Way, where we board the 2313 National Express West Midlands service 67 to Bromford (Bromford Lane), arriving there at 2328 on Wednesday evening.

We walk round the corner to the Wood lane stop on Bronford Lane, where we board the 2347 journey on NXWM service 11C. We alight at Yardley (Yew Tree) at 0000 on the cusp into Thursday morning.

Walk 0.5 mile to Swan Shopping Centre (10 mins) and wait a further 10 mins to 0020 to catch the NXWM X1 to Birmingham Airport arriving at 0034 Thursday morning.

Walk around the corner (2 min) to New Road, where we pick up the 1144 Arriva Beds & Bucks service 290 to Aylesbury Bus Station where we arrive at 1310 Thursday afternoon.

We step outside Harrow and Wealdstone station to bus stop N, where at 1504 we board the Arriva London 340 service to Edgware, which we alight at Stanmore - The Broadway at 1526 Thursday afternoon.

We then walk 6 mins (0.3 miles) to Stanmore Station where we board the 1540 Jubilee Line service to Stratford Where we arrive at 1640 on Thursday.

Being mindful there is a seven minute minimum connection time at this station, we make our way to the National Rail platforms and there board the 1650 Greater Anglia service to Thorpe-le-Soken that arrives there at 1804 on Thursday evening.

We next board the 1813 Greater Anglia service 1N55 to London Liverpool Street, arriving there at 1933 on Thursday evening.

Resisting the temptation to go underground here, we get some fresh air and walk to Moorgate station (0.4m / 8 min) where we board the 1957 GN service to Welwyn Garden City arriving there at 2047 Thursday evening.

We exit the station to the bus stop outside, where we board the 2115 Arriva Herts & Essex Green Line service 724 to Uxbridge (York Road), arriving there at 2255 on Thursday evening.
