A typical commuter-belt part of north-west England
Leaving the station, we take the two minute walk to the Brunswick Gardens stop on Bedhampton Road and board the 1843 Stagecoach South service 23 to North End (North End Junction), arriving there at 1909 on Thursday.
We next board the 1919 First Portsmouth, Fareham & Gosport service 7 to Cowplain (the bus stop near The Rainbow on Milton Road) that arrives there at 1953 on Thursday.

Typically expected to jump on the GWR service towards Cardiff, we go against that this time and instead take the eleven minute/0.5 mile walk to the IOW car ferry terminal for the 0920 Wightlink Ferry service to Fishbourne Ferry Terminal, arriving at 1005 on Friday.

With no buses at the terminal apart from one each way in the early hours of the morning on service 9 and no other bus stop within range we have no option but to back track on the 10.20 Wightlink ferry to Portsmouth, IoW Car Ferry Terminal arriving at 11.05 on Friday.

Oh that's annoying!

In that case, we'll take the eleven minute/0.5 mile walk back to Portsmouth Harbour station pier and board the 1215 Wightlink FastCat ferry to Ryde Pier Head*, arriving there at 1237 on Friday.

* I seem to remember that Ryde Pier Head station is currently closed until further notice, however both Ryde Esplanade and Ryde bus station are just within half a mile away.

At this time of night, we have jsut the 7 and 12. With 80 minutes until the next 12, we notice that it is just 2 minutes to the next service 7, the return working of our bus that has just terminated here. So we board the 2022 Southern Vectis 7 from which we alight back at Newport, Bus Station at 2105 on Friday.

To stay within the rules our only option is the 9/N9 so we cross the road and await the 2347 Southern Vectis 9, from which we alight back at Newport Bus Station at 0003 on Saturday.

Lots of routes here but not within our allotted time window, so we stay with Southern Vectis 3 departing at 0640. We alight at Shanklin Railway Station at 0708 on Saturday.
