Does that happen often?

Can't say I've seen that, but I have seen someone get on a bus (in north Wales) and lay a sailing boat mast casually down the aisle. The driver did not object.

I've also seen someone loading a full chest of drawers into the van space of a Class 150 at Preston. I wonder if he was charged AAA (Accompanied Animals and Articles) fare for that.

A filthy bus I can cope with - passengers who choose not to have a wash or shower on a daily basis however......

Well it is nice to be able to see out of the windows

Much as I agree with you - I'd prefer to be able to breathe without gagging than see where I'm going if I have to choose.

Sure we can find a solution to that:

Those are my usual modes, along with train. Sometimes, unfortunately, I end up on a rail replacement bus service.

And your point about my post is?

When people have been standing at the bus stop for plenty of time, but only start searching for their bus ticket or cash to buy a ticket when they are stood in front of the driver.

and less than a page later...

Passengers on boarding the bus, who despite having been standing at the bus stop for at least 5 mins, do not have their fare ready and then proceed to take ages trying to count out their fare from their pocket/purse.

Which reminds me, CONTRAVISION - shouldn't be allowed.
So that's what it's called. First Glasgow had it on some of their Wright Eclipse single deckers a few years ago. It replaced the usual advertising space underneath the windows:

The Eclipses that carried these were regulars on my local route (the 62) at the time. Looking through them made my head spin. Glad they were done away with.

passengers that get on a nice warm bus/ coach with all their arctic weather gear on and then insist the driver switches off the heating and/or proceed to open all the windows before even thinking of taking off their hat/ scarf etc.

Loud mobile conversation anywhere, one the other day in the Post Office having a conversation on her mobile, even at the counter despite a notice, please refrain from having a mobile phone conversation at the counter.:-x

Passengers who smoke especially smoke weed on the bus & the driver does nothing about it.

I remember a comical scene a few years back. A young lass got on the bus yakking away on her mobile... without breaking conversation she slapped her money on the tray and stated her destination. The driver just sat there looking down at the money and then back up at her until she looked at him and asked what the problem was "you haven't told me where you're going" said the driver. "Yes I did" replied the girl. "No you didn't," said driver " you told your friend on the end of your phone"

I was on the same journey the next night with the same driver.. same girl at same stop... as the driver opened the doors the girl was heard to say "I've gotta go the bus is here" RESULT!

OAPs. I apologise for any on here, but there are some who are just ignorant beyond belief. They think they own the buses. Just because they have 'reserved seats'...

However, that doesn't apply to all. Some are genuinely very nice, and sometimes I've sat next to one in what is seen as a 'priority seat' having spoken to them prior to the journey beginning.

But then once they get off you start getting nasty looks from them...;)

R*****s Shouting abuse at Passengers Football Fan from London i assume on a 256? after the 8-2 United win via Arsenal Shouting on the bus We are not going through coonville are we? he then started singing about jungle bunnies and shoot the niggers to a full busload of football fans i've heard worse in Australia but thats normally about white people from Abbos especially in Queensland

Reminds me of this (you will have to sign in to see the vid):

For the record there is no such thing as racism, one race - human. People who abuse someone because of their ethnicity are ethnictists which is a form of ethnicism.

Yes, I kid myself I don't look like one, but I will use a 'priority seat' if it's convenient for me: get glares from people half my age (or less) sometimes, but I'll always offer the seat to someone who looks like they need it more than me, just as I was taught to do when young. I'll even go upstairs still, as long as the driver is not too much of a tearaway.

Ignorance is not confined to any particular age group. If someone is ignorant when young or middle-aged, they will not suddenly become enlightened having hit pension age! Having said that, a certain selfishness probably does imbue a lot of people after a certain old age, simply as a survival strategy.

People who refuse to give up a seat no matter how busy the bus is. I had a problem last week where I boarded a nearly empty double decker, noticing as it arrived the front seats upstairs both had one person on them, I thought OK, I'll sit next to one of them, if there is a front seat free, I always take it. One passenger refused to move her bag, but the other lady moved to the inside seat with no question. A seat is a seat to most people, and if you are taking up the best seats on the bus like this, it may happen. I have had that happen to me before when I've been sitting there, but always moved my bag with no quibble.

The OAPs with their free bus passes that expect to be let on the 9.22 bus when the next one is 10 minutes later and then start complaining if they're told no!

[Obviously not all are the same - and those who ask but don't expect are different]

Not a problem in London with their 24 hour passes, lucky so-and-sos.

Any ENTCS holder can use TfL buses 24 hours (but not non-TfL services -they have the usual time restrictions, although London ENTCS holders can use them any time).

It's the free use of underground and (after 9.30) NR trains I'm envious of. Although I use my bus pass when in London I don't get very much out of it because of also using an Oyster card for non-bus journeys, often up to the daily journey 'cap'.

The 'disabled' are as bad as the OAPs around here, although they manage to run for the bus and get up the stairs I'm not sure how they manage to get a free loading pass. (Of course this is the same people who complained when the council rightfully put a time restriction on their free passes, because they could no longer get to their paying jobs for free).
N.B £465 is the cost of my student ticket to get to college (and it's still compulsory that I'm in education), so this may be why my sympathy is severely lacking.

When the bus/coach is late for no apparent reason (I have no issue with buses running late due to abnormal traffic conditions - no one can control that).

Operators that make no allowance in their timetable for rush hour traffic - AND don't give their drivers any recovery time whatsoever.

When the coach that's supposed to operate the route turns out to be a bus - and not only a bus, a bus with no heating, no legroom and no suspension.

When people get left behind because said bus has less capacity than the coach that's supposed to operate the route.

When the bus company refuses to admit that either the coaches are a pile of crap, or their engineering department are incapable of doing their job properly. (The number of breakdowns on the route I use is unbelieveable. It has a PVR of 4, last week there were 5 breakdowns in 3 days! I accept vehicles breakdown - but not at the rate they do)

The advantage of the pass is to get normally housebound OAP's out to enjoy what Britain has to offer. Think of those who may have lost their husband / wife because of their age and don't want to travel far, it gives them freedom.

Going by your post, it seems that Labour has brainwashed yet another youth. Wake up and realise that you'll be old one day.
