Hi there,

I'm wanting to start a new layout and want this to be a small one that's easy to take with me if I move house. :) I was looking for a modern image grubby TMD layout, so does anyone have any designs that work best?

Thanks in advance! :D

The Inglenook sidings plan is very good for a small space. Look for 'hendre lane' in google and you can see it applied to a small, grubby, modern depot. Hope this helps :)

That looks really cool, I've tried the layout below, what do you think?

That should work well. I would be inclined to take out one of the bottom sidings so there's more room at the front of the board, or model it as though it's been ripped up to show rationalisation in modern years.

Making it look like its been lifted is a really good idea, I'll just leave some sleepers still down and have it overgrown, thanks :)

"Dyserth Road" was quite famous for being a modern depot layout. Reasonably clean tho, rather than grubby.

Loving the Catenaries on "Dyserth Road", I had catenaries on my older layout, they were a sod to solder together, I made them out of old pieces of rail and strong wire.

This is the adjusted layout plan, without the second siding at the front.

My layout is Called "Autumn Lane" and has been on the exhibition circiut around East Anglia and Essex until i was offered to purchase the layout from it previous owner. Its a great layout it was built to be based on the mid to late eighties for the blue diesel era and was full of locos but i use it for DMUs.

I had the layout in the Model Rail magazine around 4 years ago, it is a TMD with sidings and 2 OHE sidings and a single platform with working crossing.

If you PM me i will send pictures for you.

Ive seen a depot layout called (i think) Sandy Lane, had fuel shed, maintenance shed AND a turntable, definetly had an Old Oak Common look about it, it was a great layout, not seen it about for a while tho. Think the last time i seen it it was at a Southampton show.

Well, thanks for all the replies guys, much appreciated! I have decided on my layout and got my base board cut to size at the weekend, and last night was working on my control panel. I just need to get the rest of my track and get it all laid down, after the board has been strengthened though.
