Are they not related to days of operation? As in M=Monday, F=Friday, S=Saturday, O=Only, X=Excepted?

...Oh, dang it. Too slow.

The man makes a good point- it is a single line.

However, perhaps they don't both run every week? I.E. the path is booked long term, but it goes to one or the other dependent upon demand?

Ah, but he didn't specify that the route was a single line.

Perhaps if you know someone who can access the Freightmaster times, you may find enlightenment.

It may be whats called a Q path which has be described earlier. One week it goes to one destination and the next week the other. Its a way of getting two paths out of one.

This is probably quite a common situation with freight paths. This is pure speculation on my part, but I'm thinking maybe the loading terminal (Rylstone) might not be working over the weekend, the normal situation will be for the loaded train to lay over at Neville Hill on Sunday, working forward as 6D71 to ensure a delivery to the receiving terminal (Dairycoates) on a Monday morning. However, if a delivery on a Saturday is more important to the customer, the 6D03/6D04 paths will be called. Another possible reason for the paths is in case the stabling facilities at Neville Hill are unavailable for some reason. Just because a schedule exists doesn't mean a train will necessarily run!

Here is one I would like to know.

We talk about "CRS Codes" as in KGX/STP/NCL/LDS/YRK etc, the three letter codes for stations, but what does "CRS" stand for?

CRS is the NLC abbreviation code for Carstairs, and not the same as the CRS mentioned above.

Incorrect, CRS is the CRS Code for Carstairs the NLC code for Carstairs is 9704. CRScodes are the three letter codes, NLC codes are the numbers.
